Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt was born as William Bradley Pitt on December 18, 1963. He was raised in Missouri, and left the University of Missouri just weeks before graduation to pursue acting in California.

Pitt’s career began with bit parts in movies and television in the late 1980s, before he scored his first major role with 1991’s “Thelma and Louise.” He went on to star in 1992’s “A River Runs Through It” and then opposite Tom Cruise in 1994’s “Interview with a Vampire.” Pitt received his first Golden Globe nomination for “Legends of the Fall,” which came out the same year. He then won a Golden Globe and was nominated for his first Academy Award for the 1995 movie “12 Monkeys.” Additional films during this time period included “Sleepers,” Meet Joe Black” and “Seven.” Pitt dated “Seven” co-star Gwyneth Paltrow from 1994 to 1997, before meeting Jennifer Aniston in 1998.

Pitt starred in the cult favorite “Fight Club” in 1999, and followed it up with roles in the films “Snatch,” “The Mexican” and “Spy Game.” In 2000, he married Jennifer Aniston and then received an Emmy nomination the following year for his guest-starring role on her show, “Friends.” That same year he appeared in the first film in the “Ocean’s Eleven” trilogy.

Following 2004’s “Troy,” Pitt starred with future wife Angelina Jolie in “Mr. & Mrs. Smith.” In 2006, Pitt once more earned a Golden Globe nomination for “Babel,” and then another for 2008’s “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” which also gave him a second Oscar nod. A third Oscar nomination came with “Moneyball” in 2011.

Pitt finally won his first Academy Award in 2013, but not for acting. He received a statue for producing Best Picture winner “12 Years A Slave.” With other notable films, including “Inglorious Basterds,” “Tree of Life,” “World War Z,” Fury,” “The Big Short,” Allied” and “War Machine.”

Pitt was wed to Aniston from 2000 to 2005, and eventually confirmed a relationship with Jolie, who he fell in love with on the set of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith.” The actor went on to adopt her two kids, Maddox and Zahara, before she gave birth to their first daughter, Shiloh, in 2006. They adopted son Pax in 2007, and in 2008, Jolie gave birth to twins Vivienne and Knox. Jolie and Pitt got engaged in 2012, and then married in 2014. Like Jolie, Pitt is active with humanitarian causes, and launched his Make It Right Foundation after Hurricane Katrina.

In September 2016, Pitt and Jolie announced they were filing for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The split immediately followed an incident onboard an international flight with their children, during which the two became engaged in an argument. The actor admitted in a May 2017 GQ cover story that his problems with alcohol played a factor in the split, which propelled him to quit drinking. Pitt further asserted that he was staying sober and seeing a therapist to be a better father. Pitt is next attached to star in the sci-fi film, “Ad Astra,” as well as a sequel to “World War Z.”
