‘Suicide Squad’ Cast ‘GMA’ Video: Will Smith, Margot Robbie And More – Watch Interview!
The film centers around a group of supervillains who are recruited by the government to complete a dangerous mission in exchange for getting out of prison. When the cast was asked who among them was “the most intimidating villain,” Smith said it was “clearly Viola [Davis],” who plays the government agent who creates and runs the team. Davis explained she enjoyed the “intimidation” and “brutality” of her character, adding, “It was very liberating to me as a woman to tap into that sort of power.”
Meanwhile, Robbie talked about having to perform stunts while wearing high heels, admitting, “I’m not good in heels in the first place so I was a little trepidatious but we got through it. The actress further revealed she “fell out of the helicopter,” which resulted in “a couple of bumps and bruises.”
Jared Leto, who plays The Joker, was one of the few cast members not in studio, but actress Karen Fukuhara revealed that he “never broke character” on set, adding, “Whenever I met him, I would go up to him and say, ‘Hi, I’m Karen, I play Katana, and then he would give me The Joker laugh and just go about his day.'” Smith could relate, adding, “I met Jared Leto for the first time about three weeks ago. We worked together for six months.” Smith further noted, “We literally never exchanged a word that wasn’t between action and cut. We didn’t say, ‘Hey, how you doing? Nice to meet you.’ He went full Joker.”
Apparently, the biggest prankster on set was Cara Delevingne, while most agreed the funniest character is Jai Courtney’s Captain Boomerang. “He’s one of the weirdest. That’s for sure,” said the actor. Smith also went on to discuss the Suicide Squad cast’s group text, but said there was nothing appropriate from the chat to share on morning television. Some of the film’s additional cast members, including Joel Kinnaman and Jay Hernandez, also revealed secrets about their characters. Watch the full “GMA” interview below!
