WATCH: Sugar Joans Named “Best Performance” on The Voice Live Playoffs
Sugar Joans was deemed to be the “best” performer on “The Voice” on Tuesday as part of the live playoffs, which began on Monday.
The contestant is the daughter of Joe Pizzulo, a performer who has worked with everyone from Janet Jackson to Sergio Mendes and Alice Cooper. She was originally on Team Gwen Stefani, until the No Doubt superstar cut her during the Knockout Round last month. She was then stolen by Pharrell, and they worked together to prepare for Joans’ first live performance of the show.
Joans took on the classic “I Say A Little Prayer,” dressed straight out of the 1960s. The “flower child” look combined with her pipes on the anthemic track were a big hit, especially with her former coach, Stefani. Adam Levine said the singer took them all to church, and Blake Shelton, who fought to get Joans on his team in the Blind Auditions, said that it was “the best performance of the night.”
Following last night’s show, in which Levine and Shelton’s artists performed, the second half of the season 7 Top 20, Pharrell and Stefani’s singers, had their own chance to hit the stage. By the end of Wednesday’s results show, just 12 will remain. Viewers’ votes will determine two of the acts for each team, while the coaches will each have to choose one more to join them as the competition really heats up.
