The Voice Top 10 Season 7 Results

“The Voice” revealed the Top 10 on Tuesday’s live results show, featuring the first Instant Save of season 7 and the announcement of a brand-new twist.

As Gossip Cop reported, the Top 12 was announced last week, following the blind auditions, battles, knockouts, and then the live playoffs. At the end of that last round, each team was narrowed down from five contestants to three. While America chose two of the singers for each team, the third pick was up to each coach.

On Monday, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Pharrell and Gwen Stefani, along with America, watched all 12 remaining artists perform to varying degrees of success. Kelly Clarkson, the very first “American Idol” winner and a former “Voice” mentor, tweeted her love for Stefani’s contestant Anita Antoinette, while one of the early frontrunners, Luke Wade of Team Pharrell, stumbled in his opening.

The votes from those performances have since been tallied, allowing for the first elimination of the season that was solely in viewers’ hands. Host Carson Daly revealed which 9 contestants were automatically safe, based on the votes. As in recent past seasons, the remaining three had one last shot to stay in the competition via the Instant Save.

In this case, Ryan Sill of Team Gwen, Sugar Joans of Team Pharrell, and Jessie Pitts of Team Blake all performed once more in hopes of earning the redemption through a live Twitter vote. The winner would be declared saved and safe, while the other two would be immediately eliminated. Sill was ultimately announced as the victor, and Joans and Pitts were sent home.

That marked the first losses for Shelton and Pharrell. Here are the new team standings: Levine still has all three contestants, Matt McAndrew, Damien, and Chris Jamison. Shelton now only has Craig Wayne Boyd and Reagan James. Pharrell now has just DaNica Shirey and Wade. And Stefani’s three, Antoinette, Taylor John Williams, and Sill, all remain, thanks to the last-minute save. Next week, these contestants, the Top 10, will perform before another cut is made. Special guest advisers will include Diana Ross, Meghan Trainor, Patrick Stump, and Colbie Caillat.

But Daly also announced a big new twist. For the first time ever, once the Top 3 is chosen later in the season, all the previously eliminated contestants will be brought back to perform once more. The audience will vote for who they want to see rejoin the competition, and one singer will get that second chance, becoming a wild card that turns the Top 3 back into a Top 4. What do you think of tonight’s results and the new twist?
