“Straight Outta Compton” Wins Box Office For Second Straight Weekend
Straight Outta Compton isn’t getting out of the number one spot at the box office any time soon. The biopic about the rise and fall of N.W.A. easily beat its competition for the second week in a row.
Straight Outta Compton pulled in $26.8 million to keeps its throne atop of the Top 10 chart. And that haul was more than enough for the film to cross the $100-million mark in just two weekends. Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation, which is working its way towards $200 million after four weeks in release, came in a respectable second-place again with $11.7 million.
Sinster 2 secured the third spot with $10.6 million. Fellow newbie Hitman: Agent 47 came in fourth with $8.2 million, while The Man From U.N.C.L.E stayed in the Top 5 with ticket sales of $7.4 million.
Rounding out the Top 10 were the new Kristen Stewart – Jesse Eisenberg film, American Ultra. It landed in sixth with a total of $5.5 million. Seventh place went to The Gift with $4.3 million, while Ant-Man took eight with $4.1 million. Minions ended up in ninth place with $3.8 million.
