Sting American Music Award Of Merit Video: Watch AMAs Medley Performance!
Sting received the American Music Award of Merit and performed a medley at Sunday’s 2015 AMAs. Watch below!
It was announced last month that Sting would receive the special honor, which is one of the highest achievements a person can get from the American Music Awards. While there have been more than 30 recipients over the years, Sting is the first honoree this decade. He follows Annie Lennox (2008) and Bon Jovi (2004).
According to the AMAs, the award is “only given to artists who have made truly exceptional contributions to the music industry.” Sting certainly fits the bill, given his career as both a solo artist and with The Police. And over the years, he’s won numerous awards at the AMAs, not to mention at the Grammys.
To celebrate this new accomplishment, Sting took the stage at the Microsoft Theater to perform a medley of his hits. The performance also included “I Can’t Stop Thinking About You,” which is the lead single off 57th & 9th, which came out earlier this month. The record is the superstar’s 12th solo album, and his first since 2013.
Sting performed some of the new songs recently at the re-opening of the Bataclan, one year after the Paris terrorist attacks, but has not yet announced any plans for a formal tour. Amazingly, this is his first time performing at the AMAs. Check out full video from the American Music Awards below, or click here.
