Steve-O Released From Jail Early, Serves Nine Hours Of 30-Day Sentence
Steve-O was released from jail after serving just nine hours of his 30-day sentence.
As Gossip Cop reported, the star surrendered on Wednesday for what was supposed to be a month-long stint behind bars. He was sentenced to the jail term in October in the wake of his August arrest for protesting SeaWorld on top of a 100-foot construction crane on Los Angeles’ Santa Monica Boulevard. Gossip Cop noted, however, that as a nonviolent offender, he could get out early due to jail overcrowding, and that’s exactly what happened.
Steve-O has not yet commented on his early release. As Gossip Cop reported, he filmed himself outside the Twin Towers Correctional Facility prior to his surrender. The “Jackass” star showed off his jail paperwork and did a backflip off the building’s cement sign.
He also shared an Instagram photo of a comic strip that showed him and a whale in neighboring jail cells (see below). Steve-O was depicted as exercising, explaining he wanted to “look good” for his release. The captive whale said in response, “I just want to get out. Please stop spreading the word that SEAWORLD SUCKS!”
The protest stunt that landed Steve-O in jail, albeit temporarily, included setting off fireworks, with more than 80 firefighters rushing to the scene. He was also previously cited and fined for changing a San Diego highway sign to read “SeaWorld Sucks.” It remains to be seen what he’ll do next… and if he’ll end up back in jail.
