Modern Family Creator Invites Fan Ann Romney to Officiate Gay Wedding on Show

“Modern Family” creator Steve Levitan has extended a tongue-in-cheek offer to Ann Romney to appear on the show.

The potential future First Lady recently revealed to “Entertainment Tonight” that the comedy is her favorite show — an interesting choice since the show prominently features a gay couple portrayed by Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet.

Romney and husband Mitt, the Republican presidential nominee, have been vocal in their opposition to same-sex marriage.

That irony was not lost on Levitan, who sarcastically tweeted on Tuesday, “Thrilled Ann Romney says ModFam is her favorite show.”

“We’ll offer her the role of officiant at Mitch & Cam’s wedding,” he quipped. “As soon as it’s legal.”

What do you think of Levitan’s diss?

i think it’s rude honestly. She says she likes your show but you are so closed minded you can’t even offer a thank you? Just because she believes differently than you doesn’t mean you have to be rude.

Why should it be an “interesting choice”? It’s a funny show. We all like to watch funny shows. The creator is being rude. Does he think only far-left liberals watch his show?

It’s rude to think that anyone has the right to stop two people from being married. Gay marriage is a basic human right and everyone deserves it.

  • Regina1180

She probably has no idea what the show is about.

Its rude to believe that two people of the same sex should be forbidden to marry in what we call a “free” country of “equality.” Its a basic human right-like a woman’s right to choose. Taking that away is immoral, Discrimination is discrimination. He has every right.

How simple minded does a person have to be to accept a person can be against a policy but supportive of the effected people? I don’t know if the Romney’s have openly gay friends but it wouldn’t surprise me in the least. If the offer is serious I’d bet she’d jump at the chance.

What has she done to prevent two people from being married? She voted in an election as one of about 300 million? Give me a break.

  • http://twitter.com/BearcatBetch Chelsea Eiermann

NO it’s not rude to believe that. she is allowed to believe whatever she want’s to believe that’s is HER right as a individual. I am FOR gay marriage and i can even admit that’s ridiculous. Get ur blinders off. People are allowed to believe differently than you without them being bad people.

She supports a man who intends on preventing gay marriage as well as civil unions that offer gay couples the same rights afforded to heterosexual couples. In and of itself, that is rude. And supporting someone who wants to take basic human rights away from others is just as bad as being that man yourself.

I agree that anyone is entitled to his/her own beliefs. However, when those beliefs begin to take away others’ human rights, then I have a problem and then I call it rude.

Believing and preventing are not the same thing. Preventing gays from marrying in a constitutional state is plain wrong and their is no defending that. Discrimination is discrimination. She believes what she believes because of her religion. Religion and politics should remain separate at all times. Homosexuals should not be forced to live in oppression because of the religious views of others. I’m a Christian and I support gay marriage. I support black/white marriage-their is really no difference. Believing is not rude but preventing is immoral is just flat out wrong. If I wanted to marry my pillow I should be able to because I have that right. Anti birth control, anti choice, anti gay marriage, is anti human rights. Anyone who takes part in seeing that gay people can’t have the privilege and joy of marrying their significant other is causing a lot of pain that goes a long way. Anyone who causes that amount of pain without actual acknowledgement and remorse will always be a bad person to me. Its pure ignorance. and BTW, Their is nothing “ridiculous” about two “people” being marrying one another.

She was simply lying, just as she was lying about him ironing his shirts and going to Costco. Such is the Romney/Ryan way of life.

the woman was just pandering as usual. Put up or shut up, Ann! I love that the creator put her on front street! LMAO! So hypocritical, these people.

Homosexual couples shouldn’t be denied to get married. We have some heterosexual couples that don’t even honor their vows and treat marriage as if it’s a game. You may not like it or even hate it perhaps due to a religious belief, but religion shouldn’t have any say when it comes to the law and no one should have the authority to deny it between two single consenting adults.
