Steve Harvey: I Received Death Threats After Miss Universe Flub (VIDEO)
Steve Harvey reveals he received death threats after his Miss Universe flub last month. The talk show host makes the surprising admission on an upcoming episode of the “Steve Harvey Show,” for which he spoke to both Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach of the Philippines and runner-up Ariadna Gutierrez of Colombia. Responding to an audience question about what was the hardest part of the Miss Universe mess-up for him, Harvey said, “My deeper concern was for the two women.” He later admitted that he’s received death threats in the weeks since the pageant. “People don’t understand the damage of social media,” said Harvey of the impact on him and his family. “Your kids go through it. Your wife goes through it. Death threats against my family… I can’t let my kids go nowhere. That’s difficult.”
Harvey credited his wife, Marjorie Bridges-Woods, for helping him through the darker moments in the aftermath of his mistake. He noted, “You got to have somebody with you… Somebody to climb down in the hole with you. She did that,” adding that his wife encouragingly reminded him, “You did what your father raised you [to do]… You went out there, and you took the hit.”
In addition to the death threats, as Gossip Cop reported, right after Harvey mistakenly crowned Miss Colombia as the pageant’s winner, when Miss Philippines had actually won Miss Universe 2015, he was barraged with racist tweets. While Harvey never addressed the hateful messages, he thanked everyone who supported him and came to his defense after his flub.
