Stephenie Meyer Talks Twilight Past and Future on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (VIDEO)

The Twilight Saga mastermind Stephenie Meyer appeared on Friday’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” where the bestselling author talked about her hit series’ modest origins, the publishing industry’s initial reluctance to give her a shot, and some early movie ideas that were scrapped.

Meyer also discussed whether she’d approve an eventual big-screen reboot of the series with new actors, her future writing plans, and (jokingly) the possibility of a mashup with Harry Potter.

    Stephenie has the same sense of humor as Kristen. When Kimmel told her she should at least by her sister a boat for insisting she market the story of her dream, Stephenie just glares at him. Someone should give the don’t take yourself so seriously handbook to them.

    It was so nice to see Stephenie again! She’s been off the radar for so long. She looks great! I can’t wait for the sequel to The Host. I wish they would just publish it already. D:

    Hmm…I didn’t take it that way. It looks like she’s just as uncomfortable doing interviews as Kristen though. It probably comes from being an introvert.

    Iliked her on it. she has a beautiful laugh. Rather literal replies when Kimmel was asking jokey questions.

    I wished she had stuck with the high school equation for the Twi saga. The whole Italy, Brazil, Volturi stuff was just kind of way far removed from the first book. I liked the dynamic with the original characters and the wolf pack was just err except as thought out with the first movie which seemed a lot more real. Once CGI and Italy got added with all the red capes it was too cheesy. And I really missed Rachelle.

    I thought that Stephanie looked so pretty here. I especially liked her hair. It was so beautiful. Like a lot of her fans, I was hoping she would finish Midnight Sun. But I don’t think she ever will. I did also really liked the Host. I would definitely love to read a sequel to that book.

    Harry Potter is out of Twilight’s league. There would never be a mashup. JKR knows what good literature is.
