“Twilight” Author Stephenie Meyer Adapting “Anna Dressed In Blood” For Movie Series
Stephenie Meyer is going back to the supernatural. The Twilight author is adapting Anna Dressed In Blood into a movie series, it was announced on Tuesday.
Based on the YA books by Kendare Blake, the film will tell the story of Anna, a ghost who murders everyone who enters the Victorian home in which she used to live as a human. But when ghost hunter Cas comes along, she spares his life in hopes of finding out how her past is connected to his present. Maddie Hasson and Cameron Monaghan have been cast in the lead roles.
And while only two novels have come out so far and Meyer has only optioned the first, the hope is that this will become a movie franchise… not unlike a little-known story about vampires. The author is producing the project through her Fickle Fish Films production company. Trish Sie is on board as director with a screenplay from Allison Wood.
Meyer says in a statement, “We literally searched the world for over a year to find the perfect actors to bring this genre-spanning story to life. Cameron and Maddie, both so talented individually, together have that rare and extraordinary chemistry that lights up the screen.” She adds that Sie “has the perfect background to visually translate Kendare Blake’s compelling story in a way that speaks to the modern viewer.”
Meyer most recently produced 2013’s Austenland, starring Kerri Russell. On the writing front, she released Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined, which reverses the genders of the saga’s characters, last October. The next month, it was announced Meyer was developing a Hulu TV show called “Rook.”
