Stephen Collins Lawyer: Wife Faye Grant Threatened Tape Release To Squeeze “Millions Of Dollars More” In Divorce
Stephen Collins’ lawyer is fighting back after an audiotape leaked of his client confessing to molesting multiple young girls over the years. The actor’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, is taking particular aim at Collins’ estranged wife, Faye Grant, who he claims is trying to squeeze more money out of his client on the eve of their divorce case.
In her divorce papers, Grant called Collins a pedophile with a “long term pattern of sexually molesting children”
As Gossip Cop reported earlier, Collins, who played the pastor father on the hit show “7th Heaven,” was secretly taped admitting to inappropriate sexual contact with at least three preteen girls.
Now Kaplan says, “Over the course of my representation of Stephen in the divorce case, Faye has repeatedly threatened to give this audiotape to the media unless Stephen agreed to pay her millions of dollars more than that to which she was legally entitled.”
“When these demands were rebuffed, Faye attempted — without success — to peddle the tape in numerous ways to numerous different people,” he continued, noting to TMZ, “It appears that she has finally found an audience for this tape — not surprisingly, on the eve of the trial in the divorce case where, again, she is seeking millions of dollars more than that to which she is legally entitled.”
Kaplan, however, did not comment on the confession in the tape. Earlier on Tuesday, Gossip Cop reported the TV Guide Network and Up TV announced they were pulling “7th Heaven” reruns from their schedules, effectively immediately. Later in the day, there were false claims that the embattled Collins had attempted suicide. Gossip Cop will continue to follow this story.
