Stephen Colbert Addresses Paris Attacks In “Late Show” Closing (VIDEO)
Stephen Colbert extended prayers to the victims of the Paris attacks in a last-minute closing added to Friday’s “Late Show.” Watch below.
Looking directly into the camera, Colbert said, “Folks, we end tonight’s show with a heavy heart, because we taped tonight’s show and then we found out about the horrific attacks in Paris today. I know that not much is known right now. We do know there have been many deaths and the crisis is still ongoing.”
“President Hollande has declared a state of emergency, and President Obama has promised to do whatever it takes to bring those terrorists to justice,” continued the host. “We add our thoughts and prayers to everyone in Paris. And now, um, we’ll see you on Monday.”
With that, Colbert sighed, and said goodnight. The former “Colbert Report” seemed saddened and shaken, not unlike he did last month when he addressed the UCC shooting. As Gossip Cop reported, the TV personality said at the time, “In the face of the killings in Oregon yesterday, I honestly don’t know what to do or say, other than our hearts are broken for the people struck by this senseless tragedy.”
Sadly, that same reaction can apply to this new crisis. Check out Colbert’s comments in the video below.
