Stars are reacting on social media to the catastrophic flood in South Carolina, which has left at least nine people dead and engulfed entire towns in water following Hurricane Joaquin. See celebrity reactions below.

Many politicians are sending their prayers, with Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton tweeting, “With the dangerous weather hitting South Carolina, please stay safe first and foremost. Take care, @HillaryforSC, and all affected.” Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson wrote, “My thoughts and prayers alongside our nation as we stand with #SCFlood families, friends and loved ones.” And fellow Republican candidate Ted Cruz said, “Heidi and my prayers are with the people of South Carolina, many of whom have suffered immense loss.”

Ellen DeGeneres wrote a message to the emergency responders on the scene that read, “Thank you to all the heroes in South Carolina helping the people affected by these floods. We’re all sending you love.” Patricia Arquette shared a similar sentiment, tweeting, “Sending out thanks to all the first responders and volunteers helping out in South Carolina. We can’t afford to ignore #globalwarming.” Kevin Spacey expressed, “Thoughts and prayers are with the people of #SouthCarolina and all those impacted during this historic flooding.”

Chelsea Clinton tweeted, “My thoughts and prayers… are with all in South Carolina,” while La Toya Jackson said, “To those incurring the South Carolina floods please be careful and safe! to all!” Additionally, Alyssa Milano posted a list of local shelters where South Carolina residents can stay to avoid the flood.

Meanwhile, Lenny Kravitz took to Instagram to assure fans he was alright after the storms that hit the Bahamas, where he often resides. “Thank you all for your messages. I was fortunate to make it through #HurricaneJoaquin but several islands south of me were devastated,” wrote the rocker. “There are still people on their roofs awaiting rescue. There is no water, power, or food, and airplanes are unable to land at the airport due to flooding.”

Kravitz went on to note, “I will be heading down there by boat along with other folks to bring what we can and I’ll be back at you to tell you how you can help if you wish. Let Love Rule.” Gossip Cop will update as additional stars react to the devastating and historic South Carolina flood.
