Sophie Turner: Celebrity Squads Are “Bulls**t” (PHOTOS)
Sophie Turner reveals in a new interview she believes the trend of celebrity squads to be “bulls**t,” which is one of the reasons she lives in London as opposed to Hollywood. Still, the actress who plays Sansa Stark on HBO’s hit series “Game of Thrones” admits to having quite a few famous friends of her own.
Turner discusses her personal life and career in a new profile for the May issue of Nylon. When asked about the fad of female celebrities teaming up to form squads, Turner admits she wants no part of it and mostly hangs out with her childhood friends. “I have a really good bulls**t radar!” she says. “Everyone in Los Angeles has an agenda. They want to make friends with you because of who you are. It’s like: ‘We’re famous! Let’s be friends!’ I’m like: ‘But I don’t even know you!’”
But Turner goes on to acknowledge she does have several famous pals, although they’re all people with whom she’s worked. One those people is the actress’s “Game of Thrones” co-star Maisie Williams, who plays her sister on the show, and who also happens to be featured on the cover of Nylon. “I think if we hadn’t met on set, we probably wouldn’t be friends now, simply because we are such different people,” Turner says of Williams. “I’ve always seen Maisie as this rebellious, cool kid, while I’m more passive-aggressive, or else just passive.”
Turner has also nabbed her first major movie role with this summer’s superhero sequel X-Men: Apocalypse, in which she plays Jean Grey, a mutant with telekinetic powers. The actress joins an all-star cast that includes Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy, all of whom she first met at a Drake concert as part of a cast bonding activity. “I consider them all my new best friends,” she says. “It’s a really young cast now, a real party cast.”
The sixth season of “Game of Thrones” premieres this Sunday on HBO, while X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27. See a gallery of Turner’s Nylon photo shoot below!
