Sons of Anarchy Movie Is FAKE: Brad Pitt Rumor Is From Hoax Site
“Sons of Anarchy” is NOT being turned into a movie. There’s a widespread bogus rumor claiming the TV series’ creator Kurt Sutter has “announced” plans for a film version with Brad Pitt. It’s based on a report from the hoax website Empire News. It is 100 percent NOT true.
The PHONY report quotes from an alleged magazine interview with Sutter, and provides this fake quote from him: “People absolutely loved the show, as did I, and I have put a lot of thought into the matter, and we are going forward with turning it into a feature film.” The article describes the movie as a prequel to the TV show, with Pitt supposedly playing John Teller, father to Charlie Hunnam’s Jax Teller.
The fake “Sutter” is quoted as saying, “I am most excited about bringing Brad (Pitt) on as John Teller, he is absolutely perfect for the role. The movie will take place from the day Jax was born, and leads up to the era just before ‘Sons Of Anarchy’ began as a series.” Again, this is all FAKE. It comes from Empire News, a so-called “satirical” website. But tens of thousands of people shared the story on social media as though it were real.
On Wednesday, Sutter seemed to poke fun at the hoax on Twitter. He tweeted, “I’m so pleased to announce that the PUNS OF ANARCHY movie is a go! @RealCarrotTop as Jax @DonRickles as Clay @SarahKSilverman as Tara.” Just in case there’s any confusion… do NOT start spreading a rumor about a Sons of Anarchy movie starring Carrot Top and Don Rickles. Sutter was joking, just like the original report.
