Snow White and the Huntsman Dwarfs Box Office Competitors With Big Opening

BOX OFFICE

(Universal)

Snow White and the Huntsman, the action-packed fairy tale re-imagining, starring Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron, earned $56.3 million in its opening weekend to take first place at the box office.

Coming in second was previous box office #1 Men In Black 3, with $29.3 million.

Men In Black 3 has now crossed the $100 million mark overall.

And in its fifth week, The Avengers was still popular enough to nab third place, with $20.3 million in ticket sales.

Fourth and fifth places went to Battleship and The Dictator, with $4.8 and $4.7 million, respectively.

Rounding out the Top 10 were The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel ($4.5 million), What to Expect When You’re Expecting ($4.4 million), Johnny Depp vampire flick Dark Shadows ($3.9 million), nuclear fallout horror movie Chernobyl Diaries ($3 million), and For Greater Glory ($1.8 million).

    Hell yeah!!!

    I saw it yesterday with some friends and plan on seeing it again on Sunday with Hubby. The theater was PACKED! Whoever said that guys don’t like Kristen Stewart is an idiot. There were tons of guys without any chicks at my theater :)

  • Troy

    Can’t wait to see what the foreign box office will be for SWATH. It will definetely pass the $100,000,000 mark total domestic & foreign this weekend. At the very least.

  • Cowboy

    so happy for Kristen

  • Chloe

    I wish that SWATH had a better review average but top critics and people who saw the film seem to love it. I thought the script could have been better but everyone’s acting was great! Love how it ended because it allows for a sequel.

  • XYZ

    Lucky you !!! Damn!!! It’s not fair. I haven’t seen it yet. I still have to wait for few days.

  • Kstewluver96

    omg im so proud of kristen she was incredible in it i love her and everyone in the movie was amazing

  • Buffy_2012

    Hell yeah!!!! Congrats to Kristen, Chris, Charlize, Sam, and the brillirant kick ass director Rupert Sanders. I have seen SWATH 3 times now, and it’s spectacular.

    Amazing movie is Amazing.sorry haters ..no ,I’m not sorry actually.
    top critics and box office have spoken.

  • HappyHungerGames

    Congrats Kristen, Chris, and Charlize! What an excellent movie! And what an amazing movie for first time director Rupert Sanders! The visuals were amazing. Best CGI out there!

  • HappyHungerGames

    Haters to the left!

  • Shanel

    I read some bloggers review about how he only saw bella in the entire movie. What a load of crap! She made the perfect badass snow white. No one else could have done as good or better. Whoever says that snow and bella were played the same is just dumb

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Cristina-Kozain/100000692332738 Cristina Kozain

    I have not been, but I’ll be there with the whole family …. ……..

    I am taking my 11yr old son to see Swath today and he is excited and congrats to beautiful and talented Kristen on a job well done for her first big movie away from all the twilight madness and imo she will have a long,great career in hollywood!

  • Ryan

    I’m betting it will make more than $55,000,000 in the states this weekend.
    Fri- $21,000,000
    Sat-$25,000,000
    Sun-$15,000,000
    Total-$61,000,000

    Men in Black III made just under $55,000,000 so SWATH should be able to beat that easily.

  • Betty

    Saw it yesterday and will see couple of times more. It was amazing! Though the script could have been better and the film coule have been shorter. But really worth it! Proud of Kristen!

  • guest

    For a movie most of you were predicting would be one of the top ten of the year, that’s not so good…

  • Anonymous

    Congratulations to everyone involved in SWATH! So proud to be a fan. Loved the movie and I will be seeing it again this weekend. :)

  • Ava

    There is something wrong with you if you think that $55 million + isn’t so good. No one expects it to beat The Avengers or TDKR but it will do extremely well for a non sequel or non book adaption. And we haven’t even got the overseas numbers yet. Fantasy films usually do wonderful overseas.

  • Ava

    Congratulating Ms Stewart! You have now shown the haters that you can pull in an audience outside of the Twilight movies (bc apparently pre Twi movies dont count).

    Unfortunetly I think she is going to drop down a step in Forbes actor/actress “most bang for your buck”. With The Avengers and SWATH, Chris Hemsworth will definetely be #1. Kristen will probably get spot #2 for BD2 and SWATH.

  • Wtf

    WTF!! New numbers are coming in and SWATH has BEAT the Hunger Games!! In your face, hater.

  • Anonymous

    There are a lot of big blockbusters this Summer so it would take a lot to even be #1 two weeks in a row, I am realistic enough to think Prometheus will have top honor next weekend but hope SWATH can be #2.

  • Buffy_2012

    You will love it!!!!

  • tooreal

    love it love kristen and charlize in amazing as the queen she so evil!!!!

    my roomate’s ex-wife brought home $19224 the previous month. she is making income on the internet and moved in a $491500 condo. All she did was get lucky and try the instructions laid out on this web page===>> ⇛⇛⇛⇛► getitmust.blogspot.com

  • Ava

    Oh I have no doubt that Promtheus will take the #1 spot next week. But saying that a $55 million opening weekend isn’t that good is just crazy.

  • Mari

    I LOVE how this report is coming out on a SATURDAY and the weekend isn’t done yet – though to be fair it says it is PROJECTED to make 50 Mil.

    But MiB made 70 Mil last weekend.

    Avengers made 55 Mil last weekend.

    If SWatH makes 50 Mil, that’s not really KILLING MiB….

  • Ava

    What? How?

  • Anonymous

    Definitely crazy, and I don’t remember “most” of us saying it would be top ten for the year.

  • Anonymous

    I don’t know where this is coming from either, pretty sure Hunger Games made over 65mil OW

  • Danny

    How is that not good?

  • Anonymous

    MIB3 made just under 55mil and they have a higher ticket cost with the 3D theaters. Avengers made 36.7mil. Are you including international figures? If so, they are projecting SWATH at 95mil.

  • Ryan

    The prediction is for $55 million not $50 and they always come out on Saturday.
    And MIB3 made $54.6 million Fri-Sun. The extra $15 million was because of Memorial day which doesn’t count as opening weekend. No one is expecting SWATH to beat The Avengers overall.

  • Ryan

    SWATH is projected to make around $55 million US and $40 million foreign. THG made $60 million foreign. Its not beating THG but it’s still damn good!

  • Satine

    Because half if not more of these bloggers have not seen a Twilight movie. They would have no concept, it is an easy out for them. Only fans know and I doubt she played Bella by all the trailers and clips I have seen so far. Look forward to watching it during the week. It looks great.

  • Wtf

    According to some of the sites tracking SWATH, SWATH has beat the Hunger Games and Twilight.

  • Danny

    Seeing this movie next weekend, can’t wait!

  • gina

    Only on the foreign market . Get your facts straight

  • mollypup

    I am a HUUUGGGGEEEE Kristen fan and I saw this with my daughter and her friend. I loved it. Everything about the movie was wonderful. A little slow in some spots but nothing that would make me change my mind about recommending it to someone else. If your planning on seeing it, trust me you wont be disappointed. Great job!

  • Wtf

    Nope. More new numbers coming and SWATH has already exceeded boxoffice expectations and is on track to beat THG. Look it up on the internet and you can see for yourself.

  • Wtf

    Anyone who compares Snow White to Bella should stop. Snow White and Bella are two very different characters, and Kristen owned her role as Snow White. SWATH has a great cast, and Rupert Sanders knocked it out of the park on directing.

  • Anonymous

    I can’t wait to watch this.

  • Anonymous

    I wouldn’t read too much into what bloggers have to say since top critics love this movie.

  • Anonymous

    Lol haters live in their own delusional world.

  • kstewismysquish

    this is awesome news the ninnies and Kristen haters must be dropping like flies this was quite the bitchslap dont underestimate the power of the Kristen Stewart fandom we rule just saying lol , but seriously speaking now im sooo happy Snow White and The Huntsman is number 1 soo soo happy its a slap to the face to those that Say Kristen’s movies bomb at the box office lets see if the little “know it alls” can keep their mouths shut now btw i saw it and its magnificent just a gorgeous film Kristen portrayed Snow’s innocence perfectly and Charlize blew my mind away with her evil queen just awesome and of course Chris and Sam were brilliant too

  • Anonymous

    I will be seeing this a few times.

  • Linda

    What websites? How exciting!

  • Airasmarvin92

    YEAH BABY!!!!!!!! KRISTEN FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!!!

  • JessMarie414

    What a FANTASTIC month May has been! For both Kristen and Rob! And such a bad one for the nonnies! While we’rencelebrating they are still trying to come up with excuses for the Cannes PDA and now why SWATH is doing so well! I think Christmas came early this year :-)

  • Malten

    Don’t get too excited. It will probably experience a steep drop off next weekend. This is the kind of movie some fans go see but it doesn’t have the mass appeal of a film based on a book, like Twilight or THG. This is a badly retold fairy tale and word of mouth will dampen box office, combined with it being Rotten on RT. And it’s almost rotten with the top critics, too, just 62 percent. One more bad review will put it in the rotten column there, too.

    What’s significant is that the audience score has dropped from a high of 90 to 74, so the more people see it, the less they like it. It needs to make over $500 million to show a profit, and it’s not likely to do that. So even though it has a good weekend, it could make back its production budget but still be another movie of Stewart’s that doesn’t make a profit.

    EW says: debuted to a solid $20.3 million on Friday, according to early estimates, and is headed for a $55 million weekend.

    The result is also a boon for star Kristen Stewart, who had yet to successfully open a movie outside the Twilight franchise. Still, Snow White arrived with a pricey $170 million budget, and will need to also perform admirably overseas to justify its cost.

  • Krisea1112

    I love swath,I try to watch it again and again and kristen nailed the English accent.I’m so proud of her and all the cast are fantastic!

  • Ffiswojh987gdte0036

    The top critics do not love it, they’re very mixed and it’s barely fresh. 62 is not a great score, and 1 more review will put it in the rotten column with them, too. The rest of the critics are decided unfavorable, and many point to Stewart’s lackluster performance. She’s getting a majority of bad reviews, and they can’t all be called haters.

    As many have pointed out, there is not a conceivable universe in which Kristen Stewart is fairer than Charlize Theron. Even when Ravenna is in need of her medieval Botox injection, she’s still far more attractive than the slack-jawed, sunken-eyed “Twilight” star. But for the sake of the story, I’ll let this ridiculous plot point slide… you have Kristen Stewart, whose once fresh talent has been squandered and ruined…

    Stewart is cringe-worthy in this movie, struggling to emote the often overwritten dialogue. She brings her “Twilight” game to this film, falling into her nervous ticks and tells when the script requires her to give something more than her trademarked wide-eyed stare. Through about half of the film, she channels Kevin Costner from “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves,” attempting a British accent but never quite hitting the mark and then giving up. 7mpictures

    What Stewart shows in the daunting demands of a Joan of Arc role, opposing the likes of a monster of guile and evil like Theron’s majestic, entirely ruthless villain, is that she just can’t hack it. CS

    …the odyssey from darkness to light is unduly long and sloggy, and Stewart, with her contemporary edge, seems to be acting in the wrong era. CSM

    Perhaps the most disappointing thing about this version of Snow White is her transformation from a tender and compassionate girl into a vengeful warrior queen. Sanders even tries to make that operatic but Stewart is unable to make this transition credible.S&P

    Stewart failed to become the rebel leader figure necessary to sell the dopey inspirational fight speech she was saddled with, and what should have been Snow’s big moment turned out to be a real momentum-killer. And, as with the Twilight films, Stewart has zero on screen chemistry with her male co-stars, including Sam Claflin… A.com

    Only Bob Hoskins as the blind seer Muir comes close to making us care. We can almost glean Snow White’s heroic possibilities through his clouded eyes. As much as we’d like to, we certainly can’t from Stewart’s efforts. Denver Post.

  • JessMarie414

    Oh silly nonsten, are you mad that you said SWATH would fail an it didn’t? Poor baby. Let’s check the fact, okay?

    1) If no one plans on seeing it again and again then why are people saying all over the web how they are planning on seeing it a second and/or third time?

    2) 90% would be fantastic for user reviews but 75% is damn good too. If you actually look on the web you would see that the majority of people who saw it absolutely loved it. And since most people don’t need a critic to tell them whether to see a film or not, RT isn’t as popular as a lot of people make it out to be.

    3) fresh is fresh honey. Read the reviews. Roger Ebert is a hard ass critic and he gave SWATH 3.5 out of 4.

    4) you keep insisting that a movie has to make 3x it’s budget back to be profitable but you can’t back it up with any proof! It’s typically between 1.5x and 2x the budget.

    Example: Spiderman had a production budget of $200 million. It’s advertising budget was an additional $100 million. The studio’s total budget was $300 million. Meaning anything OVER $300 million is pure profit.

    If SWATH did indeed have a $170 million production budget than typically an additional 50% would be for the advertising. $170m + $85m = $255 million. And since Rupert Sanders said himself that the budget was lower I seriously doubt those numbers. Remember, it was the Hollywood reporter that said $170 million. But for your sake we will go with the higher for our example.

    Anything over $255 million is pure profit. And since SWATH is looking at a $95-100 million total opening weekend and an additional 18 foreign territories (including Russia, Canada, and Australia$ to open between the 7th and 15th, that number will be easily made.

    Domestic BO predictions are between $150 million and $220 millioIn. And foreign is at $280 million. That’s anywhere from $430 to $500 million total revenue. And it only need to make $255m.

    You do the math.

  • Annabella

    On my way to see it now so excited to see it!

  • Jenny

    Who else thinks the trailers made the movie look completely different than it really was? The trailers were like false advertising, trying to lure people into buying tickets to see one movie but then they got something different. 90% of the footage from the trailers WAS NOT in the final film:
    1. Snow lying in the Snow after eating the apple
    2. Queen screaming and shattering the mirror
    3. Snow in the Dark Forest in the fog with the troll
    4. Thor throwing his hammer in the coolest way EVER
    5. Mirror man saying, “You are the fairest, but there is another destined to surpass you.”
    6. The way the Prince kissed Snow. I preferred the one in the trailer over the one done in the movie. Though, the one in the movie was heartbreaking.
    7. Snow smiling up at the fairies that left the trail of PURPLE dust. All I saw was green dust. The purple dust was much prettier!
    8. Snow standing with her sword looking over at the castle.

    That’s called ‘bait and switch,’ when they make you think you’re getting one thing and then they give you something not as good. Universal and the director should be ashamed of themselves. No wonder the movie is getting bad word of mouth, it deserves it.

  • JessMarie414

    Why do you insist on posting the same crap under different names? Are you mentally I’ll? Do you not realize that we can tell its the same person?

    Beauty is subjective. Charlize placed above Kristen on People’s most beautiful list but Kristen placed above Charlize on Maxim’s hot 100.

    If you don’t like Kristen so much then why are you stalking her? Oh you can say that you ‘just happened’ to be on RT all you want. But you deliberately looked up the reviews, came onto GC, and found this article. Why are you so obsessed with someone that you don’t like? Why do you post more about her than you do Rob if you’re his ‘true fan’?

    Poor, poor nonnies. Could you get any more pathetic?

  • JessMarie414

    Well, she had an English boyfriend to help her with it ;-)

  • guest

    touchy krisbian – it will drop way off next weekend

  • JessMarie414

    * ill not I’ll. Stupid auto correct.

  • Scout

    Don’t count your chickens before they’re hatched. Many films have a good opening weekend and then experience a 70 percent drop off the following weekend. This movie is not THG or The Avengers, not by a long shot. They both got great reviews.

    Film freak central summed it up best: Stewart demonstrates that as an actress, she’s pretty interesting installation art, a sucking hole and a blank projector screen at the same time–the Edie Sedgwick of Poor Little Rich Girl and Beauty #2, who might have had something going on somewhere in there, but mostly just stood around looking pretty like, say, a soup can, or a banana.

    I confess that whatever wavelength Stewart’s appeal operates on is a pitch I can’t hear, though I have complete confidence that her pale, buck-toothed, gape-mouthed Culkin vapidity is doing what it’s supposed to in Snow White and the Huntsman. I’d like to think that Stewart is an active participant in her exploitation as the world’s palest Rorschach blot, but I suspect she doesn’t know that she’s the heroine in romance-novel cover art: Doomed to be replaced by the reader’s face in her mind, held in some brawny embrace.

  • guest

    Ninnies? How old are you? 50? You Kristen fans are scary.

  • Adam

    I am so proud of Kristen finally she is shinning outside of twilight and people will see her true talent I LOVE KRISTEN AND I AM SO PROUD TO BE YOUR FAN!!

  • Wtf

    Yep, we are scary good.

  • Wtf

    SWATH getting bad word of mouth?? You do realize it’s #1 and has already exceeded box office expectations…

  • JessMarie414

    Obviously it will drop off. Even the Avengers and THG dropped off around 50%. Opening weekend is ALWAYS the highest. That’s just common sense. It will still be profitable.

    Btw- I love how when someone provides facts to prove a nonnie wrong they automatically get called a ‘krisbian’. It’s called using your brain and having common sense. Something nonnies OBVIOUSLY don’t have ;-)

  • Wtf

    Awwww, are you mad because you nonstens got bitchslapped by SWATH and Kristen? SWATH is number 1 and is tracking to beat the Hunger Games. Top critics are giving SWATH and Kristen rave reviews and poor hater bitches like you have nothing but 2nd grade insults. Go back to your basement and cry because Kristen has everything you never will.

  • Wtf

    Touchy krisbian? How lame. If you don’t like being made to look like a stupid ass, then don’t post your stupid bullshit. We know you haters are crying because Kristen proved you wrong…

  • JessMarie414

    Wow, you are dumb. Can you hurry up and start taking your meds some don’t have to deal with your multiple personalities? While it’s hilarious that you actually think we believe that crap, it makes you look pathetic. And schizo.

    Everyone knows that a movie typically drops off around 50% the 2nd weekend. The Avengers went from $207 to $102 million. MIB 3 will go from $55 to $29 million. So we can predict that SWATH will make around $25-30 million next weekend. Plus, like I said before, SWATH opens in an additional 18 foreign territories in weeks 2&3. This includes Canada, Russia, and Australia which are huge territories.

  • Guest

    LOVED LOVED LOVED SWATH. Kristen and the rest were absolutely fucking awesome. Went with a group, guys and girls and we all are going back tomorrow. The shows were sold out in our area. We got tickets today for tomorrow before they sold out again. Yeah Kristen, Charlize, Sam and Christ, congratulations.

  • Crizomar

    hey Scout above been regeted always in this busines just remember only the good ones[like baby Kristen]get it.

  • JessMarie414

    90% of the stuff in the trailer wasn’t in the film? Are you fucking kidding me? Way to exaggerate! There were only a few scenes in the trailer that weren’t in the movie (The Queen screaming, The Queen thrashing around in the bath). And almost every movie does that. It’s nothing new.

    It isn’t getting bad word of mouth. It’s actually getting really good viewer reviews.

  • JessMarie414

    It’s amusing how all these ‘bad’ comments are coming in at exactly the same time ;-)

  • hit

    Great movie seen it free on down2load

  • JessMarie414

    ^ yeah, I’m betting that it makes more than the $55 million this weekend. There have been people all over the internet saying that their theater was completely sold out. Not to mention that people keep saying how they will be going back to see it again!

  • Guest1

    Tracking to beat THG???? since when does 98.1 mil (if it hits that) beat 155 mil opening weekend both WW? do your math and SWATH is expected at best to make 250 – 275 WW per Universal if WOM does not kill it first. In what math class does 275 beat the approaching 400 mil for THG my goodness! Be happy it is doin what it is but do not compare it to a box office hit like THG…..

  • Guest1

    Promethius is getting better results and will sweep SWATH next week so I would not count your chickens before they hatch. It is number 1 because nothing else came out!

  • guest

    That’s BS. SWATH is expected to make $55 million this weekend and THG made $155 million its opening weekend. In what world is $55 million more than $155 million???

  • JM1452

    WTH???Did you actually go and see this movie. Bait and switch my arse. I suggest you go see it again and pay attention this time.

  • Guest1

    It will never beat the Hunger Games so the few that are spreading this will have to eat crow come Monday!

  • Wtf

    Bet it’s the same troll! What an idiot!!

  • Wtf

    Look on the internet for yourself. By the way Hunger Games did not beat Twilights worlwide box office numbers.

  • Wtf

    Spoken like a bitter hater. SWATH is number 1 because it a kickass movie.

  • Guest1

    LMAO Guest I said the same thing I guess they missed add/subtract math 101 in school ;)

  • Justsayin

    Look for yourself. SWATH has already exceeded box office expectations and if you have not noticed as new numbers are coming in the numbers are being revised. SWATH is also now a box office hit, and puts Hunger Games to shame. Somehow a movie with a beautiful heroine that overcomes evil is more appealing than a movie about kids being forced to kill each in a “game”. I would also rather see Kristens beautiful face, and not Jennifer’s fat cabbage patch face.

  • Guest1

    You need to step away from the computer, not everyone thinks Kristen is a great actress and worships the ground she walks on and guess what that is not a hater that is called an opinion. And next week while you are crying in your spilled milk crying foul because Promethius sits at the top we all will be living in reality!

  • Malten

    It doesn’t matter, it won’t even make $250 million. It’s Rotten and it’s got bad word of mouth. Those figures you site are just KStew fans tweeting like monkeys on crack, it’s not representative of the general public.

    And it looks like Sanders lied about the budget, trying to lower expectations, not a surprise. Several reputable sources have said the budget is at least $170 million.

    “Huntsman” — budgeted at $170 million, according to sources, though others peg it higher — will have support this weekend from overseas wickets, as the pic launches day-and-date in 45 international territories
    Contact Andrew Stewart at andrew.stewart@variety.com

    This article mentions 170 as the budget. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/why-getting-first-doesnt-matter- 330218

    There was also an L.A. Times article a few months back that interviewed 2 Universal executives and they mentioned 175 million as the SWATH and Battleship budgets. (Battleship actually ended up with 209M as their budget.)

    Just because you don’t understand how the profit margin is calculated doesn’t mean I’m wrong, it just means you don’t understand how it works. Three times the production budget is the normal method to find the profit. Again, it doesn’t matter because this movie won’t make nearly that much.

  • Guest1

    OMG @WTF did you fail Reading 101 too? It did not beat BD1 WW but only by a small margin but IT BEAT ALL THE OTHER TW MOVIES including the first and that is amazing considering it was it’s FIRST one!

  • Anonymous

    Why do you care so much? Why do you want it to fail so badly? You are way too invested in Kristen and her life. I suggest therapy.

    SWATH will make its money back and then some.

  • Info

    Lots of fans are reporting sold out showings of SWATH!!!!!

  • guest

    Wtf–First off, when did I ever mention anything having to do with the Twilight films? Second, now that you bring it up, THG didn’t beat the Twilights worldwide (probably because it hasn’t been in theaters as long as those movies have yet) and I never said it did. Regardless it isn’t behind the Twilights worldwide by much. Also, THG killed in the domestic box office since the very first week and if you look at a week to week breakdown, THG has beaten all the Twilights every week (domestically) that it has been in theaters.
    Guest1–LMAO! These Twilight/Kristen fans must have either missed math and reading in school or are too young to have had those subjects yet. :)

  • Guest1

    I have looked and NO it WON’t beat the Hunger games. If you are so sure please post the site that is projecting it to beat thg. Will you come back monday and eat crow when it DOESN’T???? And sorry most of the critics say KS was miscast google it.

  • Anonymous

    No one will be crying about Promethius. Pretty much expect it to top SWATH as well as Madagascar 3.We are just celebrating that it is not the failure that you were praying it would be.

  • ruthie

    I loved it. Been a Stewart fan since Panic Room. Now I can say I am a Hemsworth fan also. The cinematography, the music, the acting (charlize is great), al first class

    Lol, you wish. Here are actual predictions.

    Box Office. com predicts domestic @$160 million

    HitFix. com predicts domestic @$220 million

    Box Office Mojo predicts foreign @$280 million
    http://boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=3426&p=.htm

    That’s anywhere from $440 to $500 million.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I’m sorry that you can’t understand simple math. Let me try and put this in simpler terms.
    You buy a house for $100,000. You spend $50,000 fixing it up. Your total investment is $150,000.
    Now say you sell the home for $200,000. $200,000 minus your total cost of $150,000 equals $50,000. That would be profit. It’s called logic. Apparently you don’t have any.
    And as I said before, the Hollywood reporter said the budget was $170 million. Rupert Sanders said it was $75 million. Even it is $170 million SWATH will still have a huge profit.
    I am so happy for the entire cast! Way to go Kristen!
    Just some additional reviews to add to your list:
    The Wall Street Journal’s Joe Morgenstern–the characters tend to “serve more as symbols than individuals,” an issue that Hemsworth and Theron manage to compensate for with nuanced acting but Stewart stumbles over: “Stewart’s skills haven’t caught up with her celebrity,” Morgenstern writes, “so it’s almost painful to watch and listen as she struggles with an English accent and intones her dialogue lifelessly.”
    Slate’s Dana Stevens–Casting is an issue: Although Theron “isn’t a terrible choice to play the evil queen,” Stewart is “ill-suited to play a deposed princess whose irresistible charisma enables her to lead a peasant revolt.” But more damningly, Stevens says, “This over-crammed, disjointed, and lugubrious film is misconceived from the ground up.”
  • JessMarie414
    1) It’s not us saying that SWATH is beating THG. Google it.
    2) If you read the article it says that when the foreign territories that both THG and SWATH were released in, SWATH is set to make $40 million versus THG’s $38 million. And Twilight only made $30 million in those territories.
    3) We DO realize that SWATH will not beat THG domestically or worldwide total. But it will beat THG foreign.
    4) again, SWATH is being predicted to make $440 to $500 million worldwide. Not $250 million. And this was before Friday’s totals came in. It will probably be going up soon.
  • JessMarie414
    @ Guest-
    No, most critics are not saying that Kristen was miscast. It was less than 5 or 10 out of 180+. Facts people, facts!
    And fyi, fans made a petition with 70k signatures to try and stop Rob being cast as Edward. And look how that turned out.
  • JessMarie414
    Apparently you can’t read. In the foreign territories that both have been released in, SWATH is projected @$40 million whereas THG made only $38 million. No one said anything about domestic numbers like you keep referring to.
    THG is in it’s 11 week in theaters. Most movies only stay in 12 weeks. It hasn’t beat Eclipse, New Moon, or BD2. It has nothing to do with it being the first movie because it was promoted just like BD was.
  • Guest1
    OMG that is cumulative do you know what that means??? It means at the end of its run so your 400 -500 is just like the movie a bad fantasy!!! One site says 160 TOTAL all the way up to 280 mil toppin off at the highest it will make for IT’S TOTAL RUN!!! For a movie budgeted at 170 mil plus marketing expenses that is just OK not AWESOME. Do your research before you post things like that nd add your fantasy math!
  • Lindsay
    @ChlöeGMortez
    Sucha packed theater I had to sit in the front :( who doesn’t do assigned seating anymore?!?
  • Lindsay
    @KrisandRob26
    Omfg #SWATH is the only movie showing tonight at this theatre & there are SO many people here waiting for it! Proud!
  • Guest1
    It isn’t the BO Hit you were expecting it to be either ;)
  • Lindsay
    Wasn’t it great! This is the first movie I’ve ever seem Chris in and he was fantastic! Such an amazing cast!
  • Guest1
    @guest they are entertaining with there supposed victory of only 1 mil from foreign markets although final numbers have not been posted. Let them enjoy that small victory because 400 mil domestic will b itch slap 250 that hopefully SWATH will make. In the end THG wins big time!!!!!! Oh and THG got awesome reviews the same can not be said for SWATH!
  • JessieB
    @guest1- Actually SWATH has been a bigger hit than us fans predicted.
  • guest
    WOW!!! I’m sorry if you can’t understand the difference between projected and reality. Those websites you posted projected those numbers months ago. But here we are in reality and opening weekend it looks like it is only going to make $55 million. It will slowly decrease (like all films do after opening weekend) and it will never reach anywhere near $440 to $500 million. To have that amount of money come in it would have to be on par with THG which it is no where near.
  • JessMarie414
    @Guest:
    LMFAO! Seriously, are you this dumb in the real world?
    1) YOU said that SWATH wouldn’t make over $250 WORLDWIDE TOTAL. I gave predictions that prove you wrong by a LARGE margin.
    2) You seriously can’t read. The DOMESTIC (US) predictions ALONE are $160 to $220 million. ADD the FOREIGN prediction of $280 million. THAT’S how we get $440 to $500 million.
    Again, this ISNT me coming up with these numbers. It’s actual predictions from companies who do that for a living.
    3) AGAIN, I said that SWATH won’t beat THG opening weekend or domestic total. I said it will beat the FOREIGN total. The actual predictions say that.
  • Guest1
    @guest and here is one just for fun ;) there are many like this but THEY only see the 2 good ones hehehehe
    “I confess that whatever wavelength Stewart’s appeal operates on is a pitch I can’t hear, though I have complete confidence that her pale, buck-toothed, gape-mouthed Culkin vapidity is doing what it’s supposed to in Snow White and the Huntsman. I’d like to think that Stewart is an active participant in her exploitation as the world’s palest Rorschach blot, but I suspect she doesn’t know that she’s the heroine in romance-novel cover art: Doomed to be replaced by the reader’s face in her mind, held in some brawny embrace”
  • Lindsay
    @JessMarie414— I wouldn’t even bother. This idiot doesn’t realize that you are supposed to add the domestic and overseas totals to get the worldwide. It’s like having a conversation with a five year old.
  • Guest1
    Oh yipee I bet Universal is breathing a sigh of relief over it’s possible 2 mil victory over the hunger games foreign market. I bet they are not concerned about the 200mil plus THG will beat it domestically then add it’s foreign on top *rolls eyes* So it won a small battle but the WAR was WON by THG!
  • Lindsay
    @Guest1— Not the big hit we were expecting? Huh? The prediction was $38,000,000 and it’s set to make $55,000,000. That means its a bigger hit than even the studio was predicting. Duh.
  • guest
    @Guest1 I liked that one too! ;)
  • Lindsay
    @Guest1— Seriously, how old are you? No one is saying that swath will beat hunger games domestically. JessMarie414 already explained that the article said foreign territories… not domestic ones. Goodness, try reading the article before you spew your crap.
  • Guest1
    I am the idiot??? The 160 and 250 etc are WW= world wide!!!!!!! No one is predicting 280 mil foreign only!!!!!! Maybe in your pixie induced state of mind but unless you understand what you are reading please do not post it here like it is fact. Those numbers are WW not just domestic!!!!!!! 280 mil for just foreign is your wishful thinking!!!!! Universal themselves are predicting 250 -280 mil WORLD WIDE so are they liars or just stupid and not smart as you with your a grade math *rolls eyes*
  • Lindsay
    @Guest1— no one is saying that swath will beat the hunger games domestically. Not one of us. We are going by what the predictions say about swath beating thg in overseas markets. All you are doing is making yourself look like a fool.
  • JessieB
    @Guest1- THG couldn’t beat Twilight Saga’s worldwide boxoffice. You haters are pissed because you wanted SWATH to fail, and it’s a boxoffice hit. Why don’t you go find a thg board – oh, wait you may have trouble finding one because no one is talking about THG. The day after Hunger Games came out, everyone was talking about Rob, Kristen, their movies going to Cannes, and Kristen’s photoshoot. Hunger Games hasn’t won shit.
    .
    “Snow White and the Huntsman” reinvents the legendary story in a film of astonishing beauty and imagination. It’s the last thing you would expect from a picture with this title. It falters in its storytelling, because Snow White must be entirely good, the Queen must be entirely bad, and there’s no room for nuance. The end is therefore predetermined. But, oh, what a ride.
    This is an older Snow White than we usually think of. Played for most of the film by Kristen Stewart, capable and plucky, she has spent long years locked in a room of her late father’s castle, imprisoned by his cruel second wife (Charlize Theron). When she escapes and sets about righting wrongs, she is a mature young woman, of interest to the two young men who join in her mission. But the movie sidesteps scenes of romance, and in a way, I suppose that’s wise.
    The Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) is a heroic, mead-guzzling hunter assigned by the Queen to track down Snow White and bring her back to the castle. After encountering her, however, he is so impressed he changes sides. There is also Prince William (Sam Claflin), smitten since childhood, and the two men join in an unstated alliance.
    The Queen lives in terror of losing the beauty of her youth and constantly tops up with the blood of virgins to restore it. She tests her success with the proverbial mirror on the wall, which melts into molten metal and assumes a spectral form, not unlike Death in “The Seventh Seal,” although its metallic transformation process reminds us of “The Terminator.”
    The castle, which sits in eerie splendor on an island joined to the mainland only at low tide, is a gothic fantasy that reminds me of the Ghormenghast series. The Queen is joined there by her brother, somewhat diminished by his blond page-boy haircut, who does her bidding but seems rather out to lunch. Extras appear when needed, then disappear. The Queen commands extraordinary supernatural powers, including the ability to materialize countless black birds that can morph into fighting demons or shards of cutting metal.
    All of this is rendered appropriately by the special effects, but the treasure of this film is in two of its locations: a harsh, forbidding Dark Forest, and an enchanted fairyland. Both of these realms exist near the castle, and the Huntsman is enlisted in the first place because he knows the Dark Forest, where Snow White has taken refuge.
    In this forbidding realm, nothing lives, and it is thick with the blackened bones of dead trees, as if a forest fire had burned only the greenery. There is no cheer here and a monstrous troll confronts Snow White in a dramatic stare-down. After the Huntsman frees her from the Dark Forest, they are delighted to find, or be found by, the Eight Dwarves.
    Yes, eight, although one doesn’t survive, reducing their number to the proverbial seven. These characters look strangely familiar, and no wonder: The magic of CGI has provided the faces of familiar British actors such as Ian McShane, Bob Hoskins, Ray Winstone, Nick Frost, Eddie Marsan and Toby Jones. While this technique is effective, it nevertheless deprives eight working (real) dwarves with jobs, which isn’t really fair.
    The dwarves lead them to my favorite realm in the film, an enchanting fairyland, which is a triumph of art direction and CGI. Mushrooms open their eyes and regard the visitors. Cute forest animals scamper and gambol in tribute to a forest scene in Disney’s 1937 animated film. The fairies themselves are naked, pale-skinned sprites with old, wise faces. The spirit of this forest is embodied by a great white stag with expressive eyes and horns that spread in awesome complexity. This is a wonderful scene. The director, Rupert Sanders, who began in TV commercials, is clearly familiar with establishing memorable places.
    As for the rest, there is a sufficiency of medieval battle scenes, too many for my taste, and a fairly exciting siege of the castle, aided by the intervention of the dwarves, and featuring catapults that hurl globes of burning tar — always enjoyable.
    There is a great film here somewhere, perhaps one that allowed greater complexity for the characters. But considering that I walked in expecting no complexity at all, let alone the visual wonderments, “Snow White and the Huntsman” is a considerable experience.
  • JessMarie414
    @Guest1
    Yes, you are an idiot. If you click on the Box Office Mojo link it CLEARLY shows FOREIGN at the top. Not worldwide. When you click on the link it shows all the summer 2012 films FOREIGN TOTALS. Not world wide. Try actually clicking on the link before you type.
    @Guest-
    Yes, they are predictions. Just like other movies’ box office numbers are predicted. So far, SWATH has surpassed its opening weekend prediction of $38 million. That means that it is doing BETTER than expected.
    Seriously girls, THINK!
  • Info
    Another review:
    A few years ago, it seemed that re-imagined fairy tales were set to take over cinemas in the same way superhero films did at the end of the nineties. Countless projects were touted, but when the bid for cinematic domination began, the opening shots fell short.
    Alice in Wonderland may have made a decent haul at the box office, helped by an Avatar-inspired curiosity about 3D, but it was one of the worst films of 2010 – which is saying something considering that was also the year of The Wolfman, Clash of the Titans and Gulliver’s Travels – while last year’s Red Riding Hood was, amazingly, even worse – an insipid Twilight knock-off that was a combination of incomprehensible story, penny-pinching production design and terrible, lazy performances. And then there was Beastly – the less said about which, the better.
    And so we come to this year’s effort, Snow White and the Huntsman. The signs weren’t great – a story by a first time screenwriter, quickly turned around by a first time director, and the producer of Alice in Wonderland, starring an actress whose primary claim to fame is to have spent the last four years chewing her face off whilst lusting after Robert Pattinson. Strangely though, while Snow White and the Huntsman should be rubbish, it’s not. Quite the opposite, it’s sort of terrific.
    Hanging off a clever and well constructed screenplay, that touches on the expected elements of the Snow White story without once seeming predictable, the movie is very much the fantasy romp that previous efforts have promised, but failed to deliver. Not only is it well written, but director Rupert Sanders has created a world that feels completely believable, and truly epic. The astonishing production design helps here, but it’s the little details – from waterside villages to moss covered tortoises that really sell it. It’s so rich, that at times Snow White and the Huntsman feels like a live action Studio Ghibli movie.
    Stewart has to tread a fine line as Snow White between passive victim and active protagonist, and it’s surprising how successfully she does so. It’s popular to criticise Stewart for a lack of range, but here her performance works quite well. What’s particularly impressive is how flawless her accent is. In fact, hers is the most consistent accent in the film, even amongst the cast members born and raised in England. By contrast Theron’s attempt changes more or less with every shot, while Hemsworth’s attempt at a Scottish accent – presumably to differentiate the Huntsman from his recent turn as Thor – is just a bit odd. It’s also provides for some unintentionally racist subtext, portraying the only Scotsman in the film as a violent drunk.
    While Theron’s accent may be a little off, her performance isn’t. She spends much of the film snarling and screaming, leaving toothmarks in the scenery around her. She squeezes every bit of menace she can from the script. The only pity is that’s pretty much the only emotion she has. There’s a moment in the film where the queen is humanised a little, but that sympathy we feel for the character is only fleeting, as within seconds we’re back with snarling Charlize.
    The film’s biggest issue is the lack of a sense of fun. It’s so po-faced that at times I half expected Christopher Nolan’s name to turn up somewhere in the end credits. The few comic moments are great, and a pleasant relief, but there simply aren’t enough of them, and the film suffers from it. In particular, there are times where it’s very hard to stay engaged with the movie, particularly when Snow White and her pet Huntsman are simply blundering around the countryside aimlessly. That said, the film moves along at such a fast pace that this is only relevant for a fairly short time, and soon enough there’s something new and exciting to distract us.
    Accents and a serious attitude aside, Snow White and the Huntsman is actually a very good film. Describing it as an impressive debut for Rupert Sanders is unfair. This would be an impressive film if it had been directed by Guilermo Del Torro or Peter Jackson. For a debut it’s truly astonishing. Stewart is sufficiently divisive anyway, that her presence will likely upset some viewers, but if you can get over the Twilight baggage, she’s actually rather good, and certainly holds her own against Theron. In all, it’s well worth a watch.
  • Guest1
    LMAO Jess it also predicted MIB3 at 320 mil for foreign do you see that happening? No and Battleship at 280 mil do you see that happening? No and Universal lowballed the 38 mil it originally needed 70 – 80 mil domestic to consider it ON TRACK oh yea it ISN’T going to do that and it made morons like you think it is a BO success. Hats off to universal. Either way SWATH will be no where near 400 -500 WW in the end! And in the end IT WON’T BEAT THE HUNGER GAMES!
  • Guest1
    Oh so mature and first she is not my queen but she is a great actress, oh and BTW critics loved her in THG and movies outside the THG, can you say the same about KS? Ummm no we could post reviews all day long about how badly she was miscast but that would hurt your feelings……
  • Lindsay
    @Guest— I don’t think that you understand that every movie’s ticket sales go down after the first week. You make it sound like its a new thing only for swath. It’s not.
    We realize that swath won’t beat the hungers games worldwide total and we never said that. No one did. We are getting these numbers from prediction sites. We’re not making this crap up. Of course it’s only a prediction the avengers did better than predicted. So did quite a bit of movies. Yes some movies under predicted but they did so in the opening weekend. The fact that swath is exceeding expectations in the opening weekend is a very good sign. It’s doing better than what it was predicted to do.
  • Guest1
    Oh wait here is one just for you;)
    “If there’s a weak link in the cast, it’s Kristen Stewart, who’s not only a terrible choice to play Snow White (she’s far too gloomy to be considered the “fairest of them all”), but fails to demonstrate that she’s improved as an actor since the “Twilight” series. In fact, the character as a whole is really poorly drawn, to the point that when she dons her armor in the film’s climactic battle sequence à la Joan of Arc, you don’t believe for a minute that she could actually lead an army, let alone a kingdom. Casting Stewart was probably Rupert Sanders’ biggest mistake, apart from the fact that, although the movie has a lot of good ideas, they’re assembled in such a disjointed fashion that the sum is never equal to its parts. “Snow White and the Huntsman” is at least great to look at thanks to some visually stunning imagery (though at times, it feels like Sanders is showing off), but if the movie teaches us anything at all, it’s that beauty isn’t everything”
  • Guest1
    Here is one just for the heck of it because I like you hehe
    “However, if you have made a movie about Snow White that climaxes with a battle between her and her evil stepmother nemesis–the woman who killed her father, destroyed her kingdom and has been trying to straight-up murder her throughout the story, it stands to reason that most viewers should not find themselves rooting for the evil stepmother to triumph over the ostensible heroine. And yet, that is just what is on display in “Snow White and the Huntsman,” an execrable take on the tale that, thanks to a depressing and decidedly unpleasant take on the material and a jaw-dropping bit of miscasting, is a fail of near-mythical proportions. Not only is it not the best film version of “Snow White” to hit the multiplexes in the last three months (that prize goes to last spring’s flawed-but-fun “Mirror Mirror”), it doesn’t even live up to the not-exactly hallowed standards of the infamous “Snow White and the Three Stooges.” Hell, even the utterly unrelated “Monster” comes across like a better adaptation of the material–at the very least, it has more likable characters and a happier ending than this one.”
  • Guest1
    Jess it kicked TW’s arse in like every category!!!!! Oh I am sorry maybe one or two it lost. And the only reason it lost that is because psycho twihards went to see it like 20 times the critics hate it!!! THG normal fans went to see it and the critics loved it. They did not have to buy tickets they never used just ot inflate numbers!!! Grow up! And mot were talking about KS flipping the bird and getting boo’d three times in the red carpet at Cannes. Yes I would be a proud fan….
  • JessMarie414
    @Guest
    Show me where it says that SWATH has to make $70-$80 million to be on track. Give me the link. You can because it doesn’t say that anywhere.
    SWATH is making more than predicted so far. More not less. That means its ‘on track’.
    MIB3 is on its way to a large foreign box office. It made $133 million foreign opening in all it’s territories. SWATH is predicted to make $40 million in some of its territories. In the next two wks 18 more will be added. That includes Australia, Canada, and Russia which are huge territories.
    Example- BD1 made $159 million foreign opening and has made $425 million total foreign. So yes, MIB3 is ‘on track’.
    AGAIN, no one said that SWATH will beat THG’s total. Get over it.
  • Justsayin
    @Guest1- For all your kindergarten insults at Kristen her and SWATH still kicked your ass. While you sit behind your computer in mommy and daddy’s basement Kristen is laughing all the way to the bank. Her movie is #1 at the boxoffice, she is #5 on Cannes list of 13 stand out actors, and Kristen is doing what she loves to do. Meanwhile you are a basement dweller, criticizing an A-list actress who has acomplished more the last 2 weeks than you have your whole life. You better get to the mailbox and be sure mommy and daddy’s social security came in.
  • Guest1
    @justsaying let’s talk when SWATH ends and lets see if you can still stand by your statements. And you know nothing about me and I can assure you you are so far from the truth. And while you are defending KS who could careless about you I will be enjoying my life. KS kicking my arse LMFAO!!!! That is just the most stupid statement I have ever heard. The reviews speak for themselves….Let’s chat next week when SWATH is all forgotten about HAHAHA. OH and how did OTR rate in Cannes??? Oh yea it didn’t hehehehe
  • Justsayin
    @Guest1- Eat shit lying bitch.
    Deadline has updated their figures and SWATH will win its opening weekend and make almost $100 million worldwide.
    Deadline states that it also has the possibility of beating both The Hunger Games and Twilight’s opening weekend numbers. But remember that Twilight was an unknown entity to others outside of fans of the book, was a low-budget indie without the luxury of the premium ticket prices and almost made back its entire budget in the weekend as well.
    However, to beat THGs opening weekend numbers or to even come as close as Deadline is stating, would indeed be an upset since it was attached to the premium IMAX ticket prices.
    A further note, Kristen Stewart’s Breaking Dawn Part 1 ($705,058,657) also a 2D film, is beating The Hunger Games ($643,692,726) in worldwide box office and will unlikely be caught once THGs finally closes.
    ***
    SWATH opened strong worldwide with more markets to go, according to Deadline. Universal Studios has been having a rough go at the box office with the releases of The Five Year Engagement in April and Battleship in May which both films underwhelmed at the box office.
    Deadline states the following about SWATH’s current numbers:
    “…Universal’s #1 film Snow White And The Huntsman (3,773 theaters) came in at $20.3M Friday and $55.8M for this domestic weekend. That result is better than expected for the 2D original fantasy. actioner that cost $172M and didn’t have the benefit of a 3D premium or franchise recognition.”
    “….overseas Snow White opened in 45 territories and was the #1 movie in 30 territories and especially strong in Latin America and Asia. It will gross $39.3M this weekend, which is on a par with The Hunger Games’ $38M and better than Twilight‘s $30M, for a $95.1M worldwide cume.”
    “Highlights include Mexico ($1M at 588 dates and 48% market share), Spain ($900K at 393 dates and 51% market share), Germany ($1.5M at 618 dates in 2 days), UK ($1M at 476 dates and with previews total is $2.6M (where the movie was overwhelmed by Fox’s Prometheus.”
    “The UK has two national holidays and school holidays next week and 5 weeks as counter-programming to the Euro Cup, so we expect the film to have a long run,” a Uni exec emailed me. Snow White has 18 territories including Australia, France, Italy, Japan and Russia to open over the next two months.”
    “It’s now safe to say that Snow White is breaking the post-Avengers early summer slump which has claimed 5 straight major studio releases so far because the Marvel mega-blockbuster was sucking all the air out of domestic box office. Insiders now expect the movie’s internationalcume to ultimately earn $250M-$275M all-in.”
    “We’ll make money with the movie which we really care about. No one can rag us this week,” a Uni exec said to me this morning.
    Fans can be proud that their movie is exceeding all expectations. Go here to find out when Snow White and the Huntsman will open in your area.
  • AllThatGlittersIsGold
    They are too stupid to realize that we know they are the same person. For someone who loves THG do much they seemed to be obsessed with Kristen and SWATH
  • Guest1
    Oh and you better hope it makes 500 mil to break even and not lose money:
    NRG data leaked to Vulture shows that the action/adventure film is tracking particularly poorly with one group that action/adventure films cannot afford to disappoint: men. Only slightly more than one in three males (36 percent) over the age of 25 are expressing “definite interest” in seeing it. More, an internal Universal Pictures memorandum shared with Vulture shows that the studio expects a best-case opening-weekend haul to be only between $35 million and $40 million — a disastrously low number for a film that the studio admits to costing $175 million but which insiders say wound up totaling $190 million. (Add to that another $80 million to market it, and the math quickly becomes a problem: After all, it’s not what you gross, but what you keep. As half of all box office receipts must be split with theaters, you quickly realize this is a film so expensive it would need to gross roughly half a billion worldwide just to break even.) Even if it opens at No. 1, which is likely, it’s not necessarily a victory.
  • Guest1
    @just you are just like your queen when the tough gets going the nasty get filthy and call ppl names for their opinion. Add in a bird flip here and there. How mighty human of you. AND THEY ARE TALKING FOREIGN ONLY IT WILL NOT BEAT THE HUNGER GAMES WW = WORLD WIDE. What part of that are you not understanding. And these are predictions only. You will be eating crow in the coming weeks……
  • Justsayin
    @Guest1- Tha’t what you Kristen haters always and then it’s YOU who ends up eating shit. Kristen owns your pathetic ass. You are on a board about Kristen and her new movie.
  • Leelea
    @Guest1- Too bad Hunger Games could not beat The Twilight Saga’s WORLD WIDE numbers. Since your not a Kristen fan or SWATH fan why is your stupid ass on this board. You haters are obsessed with Kristen to the point of insanity.
  • AllThatGlittersIsGold
    Um, no THG did not kick ass in every category.
    THG made:
    -$19.7 midnight release
    -$67.2 opening day domestic
    -$152.5 opening weekend domestic
    -$59.2 foreign opening weekend
    -$212 worldwide opening weekend
    -$247 million foreign total
    -$644 million worldwide total (only one week left in theaters)
    That means it DIDN’T beat:
    -Midnight Releases- New Moon($26.3m), Eclipse($30.1m) or BD1($30.25m)
    -Opening Day Domestic- NM ($72.7m), Eclipse ($68.9m), and BD1 ($71.6m)
    -Foreign Opening Weekend- NM ($132m) , Eclipse ($71m) or BD1 ($153m)
    -Worldwide Opening Totals- NM ($275m), Elipse ($228m) or BD1 ($291m)
    -Foreign Totals- NM($413m), Eclipse($398m) or BD1($425m)
    -Worldwide Totals- NM($709.8m), Eclipse($698.5m) or BD1($705m)
    It did beat-
    -All four’s domestic totals.
    -All four’s opening weekends.
    – And the first Twilight’s records.
    That’s it. And THG is only in theaters for another week.
  • AllThatGlittersIsGold
    Oh ‘guests’ you outted yourself there. But what can we expect from idiot nonstens.
    JessMarie414 and Lindsay have already told you many, many times. No one ever said that SWATH will beat THG’s domestic total. Get that through your dumb skull. All along everyone has been saying that SWATH will beat THG foreign total. And predictions say it will.
    It’s funny that you don’t like Kristen but here you are. Try getting out of your parents basement and actually live a little bit.
    @Guest1 aka nonnie:
    Yes, Kristen flipped the papz off at the airport because they were pushing fans and knocking over carts. Johnny Depp also flipped the papz off. So did Rob. What’s your point?
    The papz were booing outside the OTR photocall bc she refused to take photos by herself. Those were papz, not the Cannes photographers.
    She was not booed at the Cosmopolis premiere. Watch the video. There was an announcement and the papz were boing at that.
    Did you know that Rob got booed as well?
    Why are you so obsessed with her? Or are you super angry that Rob proved all you nonnies wrong by showing up at two of her premieres, kissed and snuggled with her at the OtR after party, and held hands with her at the Cosmopolis after party? Are you upset that he went straight to her in the theater after Cosmopolis? Or that they were photographed leaving together and arriving at their hotel after you nonnies insisted that she was staying elsewhere? Are you mad that Rob didn’t do what you wanted him to? Like confirm that he was going to work with Kristen on another movie?
    Poor, poor nonnies.
  • AllThatGlittersIsGold
    Don’t you love how they pretend to “talk” to eachother. Then they just slip in insults about Kristen. They have got to be the dumbest “fans” on earth.
  • anon
    Congratulations Kristen on SWATH! You are a rare diamond baby. So proud of you!!
  • Annabella
    WOW is all I can say for this film and people thought this would be a flop? Get outta here! THe special effects were great the talent stepped it up. Kristen is so amazingly stunning and beautiful she showed it in Eclipse with all those face close shots and did it here in SWATH. Charlize was amazing and did an outstanding job as well as the male leads they were so hot once again Kristen gets to work with the hottest men on the planet. I was impressed with how physically demanding this role was on her, they had her running swimming horseback riding and just threw her in some crazy situations. I did not like the ending at all because it left me with still too many unanswered questions but I guess the two sequels will be worth the wait. Slow at a few moments but otherwise this was a home run in my eyes for Kristen and Charlize and Chris and everyone involved. I just wish I could’ve saw more of the battle scenes and more of the fairies, weird little creatures they were. My only regret is that I wasn’t around for the casting that Chris Hemsworth is one fine man his wife is extremely lucky! Kristen was totally bad ass she and Ginnifer goodwin drinks Once Upon A Time will always be my favorite Snow Whites!
  • EC
    Go SWATH
  • Chita
    Go Snow White Stew , you are beautiful! Keep going the sky is the limit! And yes congrats on SWATH, it’s a great movie!!
  • Hunter
    I’m betting that SWATH makes more than the $55m domestic and $49 m foreign that Universal is saying. They r definetely lowballing the foreign. I’m betting on $60-$65m domestic and $50m foreign. $110-$115m total ww opening isn’t 2 shabby
  • Annabella
    I didnt look through all the comments on here so if I’m bringing up a moot point I apologize but I have to say I was surprised by the amount of men that were in the audience and that actually enjoyed it, seeing as it was imo more geared to women…
  • Lill
    Im so proud of kristen!!!!!!!
  • Anonymous
    How long did you spend writing this one up? Seriously, please go and spend your time doing something more effective. Hating on Kristen is just making you a bitter hag. SWATH has been doing really well, and will continue to do so.
  • Anonymous
    Funny Charlize seems to lose her accent for a third of the movie…and everyone who saw the movie is saying Kristen’s accent was the best.
  • Anonymous
    Why are you here complaining about SWATH? Go do something useful with your life and watch re-runs of THG since you LOVE that so much. I don’t and haven’t seen it….and really I couldn’t care less. I just want SWATH to do well.
  • Anonymous
    I’m from Australia! Will watch this at least a few times. Even my friends who aren’t fans of Kristen are watching this because it looks so good.
  • Fan
    me too, so proud!! Go Stewy Go!
  • Anonymous
    Ignore people who are criticizing the movie, they’re just Kristen haters who want the movie to fail. Go watch it. I have to wait until June 21 when it gets released in Aust.
  • Anonymous
    Um okay…that’s weird…surely they don’t hate Kristen?
  • Anonymous
    Oh really? That’s awesome to hear.
  • Scout
    You’re so crazy. It’s impossible for you to believe that more than one person thinks Kristen is a bad actress? You need to stop living in denial. She’s getting a majority of bad reviews and a good opening weekend does not make a film a hit. It needs to have several good weekends to make a profit, and the numbers just aren’t there.
    It’s Rotten, bad reviews and bad word of mouth will sink it next weekend and by the middle of June it will drop drastically, insuring that it won’t be profitable or a hit. This weekend’s numbers are good because it has no competition. Next weekend and every weekend after that, other movies will be in the #1 spot.
    So enjoy it while it lasts, because it won’t last long. Just like all her other films outside of Twilight, it will be considered a flop.
  • Anonymous
    @guest1 Funny because Jennifer Lawrence auditioned for role of Bella in Twilight. She was rejected. Instead Kristen was handed the role, she didn’t even have to audition, the director visited Kristen on set.
  • Malten
    Because her fans are so obnoxious and rude. They curse and call anyone with a differing opinion a bitch. They can’t accept reality–Stewart is getting a majority of bad reviews, Charllize is getting better reviews, the movie is too long and boring. You have to be in denial to think it’s going to be a hit.
    With a $170 million budget, it won’t make a profit. Come back in a month and admit you were wrong.
  • Hear this
    So mature. What are you, 14? This is why people don’t like KStew or her fans. They are the haters, they are the first ones to start saying rude things about other actresses they feel pose a threat.
    And they should be worried about Jennifer. She’s got an Oscar nomination, a hit film franchise she carries on her shoulders, she doesn’t need more popular actors to prop her up and draw an audience. She gets good reviews and she has star power. This is Jennifer’s year, and next year will be, too. Stewart peaked in Twilight an it’s been downhill ever since.
    OTR has horrible reviews, too, but she can go back to the little indie films that nobody pays to see, that’s where she belongs.
  • Abc
    Save your money. It’s got 78 bad reviews, and 15 of them are from the top critics. I don’t usually pay a lot of attention to reviews, but when they are so overwhemingly in agreement that a movie stinks it usually stinks.
    And the score is not just barely rotten, it’s very rotten. Only fans who are willing to overlook a bad script, bad acting, zero chemistry among the leads, laughable dialog, bad accents and shaky camera work could like this mess. A normal person isn’t going to ignore all the negatives.
  • Observer
    JessMarie, aren’t you the one who’s too dumb to recognize a sellout when you see one? The one who doesn’t know the difference between a franchise movie and a studio film?
    You never let your ignorance keep you from making a fool of yourself though.
  • HappyHungerGames
    Lol, obviously you haven’t seen the movie. The accents are perfect, it even says so in the reviews. The chemistry wasn’t hot but it was there. There was only a little shaky cam during the fight scenes and it was less than what was in THG. The script wasn’t the best but it was pretty decent. And the cinematography was absolutely stunning. Better than Alice in Wonderland and Lord of the Rings.
    Only 15 out of 39 top critics disliked the movie. And viewers have it at 74% approval.
  • HappyHungerGames
    @Malten- Are you done yet? You keep spouting bullshit that you can’t back up. Read the comments here. SWATH is performing better than expected. JessMarie414 provided you actual links to reliable websites that are giving these estimates. No one here is pulling these numbers out of their asses. You act like her fans are making these predictions up. It’s set to make $400mil to $500mil. If the budget is $170mil then SWATH only needs to make $340mil at the most to get its money back. If you don’t like Kristen, her fans, or SWATH you can easily ignore us. This article it’s on the front page anymore meaning that you had to search for it. You idiots are obsessed
  • HappyHungerGames
    @ Hear This- It’s funny how you nonstens kept saying how Jennifer Lawrence would be bigger than Kristen once THG premiered. And look how that turned out. No one cares about Jennifer. She can’t even make the news. You keep saying that Kristen has no fans but SWATH just proved your ass wrong. You must be psychotic if you think that Kristen has become less popular since Twilight. A search on google will show more fansites, tumblr accounts, twitter accounts, blogs, and news articles dedicated to her than almost any other celebrity out there. That just kills you doesn’t it? Yes, OTR isn’t getting the best reviews but the main reason why is because of the cinematography and script. Kristen herself is getting excellent reviews. She was nominated by four different Cannes jurors for Best Actress for a reason.
  • Eliza
    Hear this, I don’t understand you. You obviously hate Kristen and yet you know quite a bit about her. Don’t people typically ignore people that they don’t like?
  • HappyHungerGames
    Keep telling yourself that sweetheart. Maybe it will help you sleep better at night. You can say all you want about how Kristen is getting the majority of bad reviews but anyone who takes the time to read them will know that you are lying. Yes she is getting more than we wanted. But quite a bit talk about the script and editing being off. Which I agree with because they both could have been better. Robert Pattinson’s Bel Ami got a 33% on RT. In fact his films consistently get lower ratings than hers but yet you take the time to research and stalk her even though you hate her. Or are you just pissed that SWATH will make more than Water for Elephants and Remember Me combined?
  • Ava
    Why can’t you nonnies ever get your facts straight? Seriously. Do you enjoy getting proved wrong all the time?
    Panic Room, The Messengers, Into the Wild, In the Land of Women, and Adventureland were not flops. In fact Kristen opened The Messengers herself and it made $56,000,000 on a $15,000,000 budget. And that was before Twilight.
    The Cake Eaters and The Yellow Handkerchief were very limited releases. The Runaways was only released in 244 theaters. Welcome to the Rileys was only released in 11. You are trying to compare a wide release to an indie. That’s like comparing Bel Ami to SWATH. It doesn’t make sense.
    I realize that you can’t stand that SWATH is doing well but you need to get over it. The predictions are in and so far SWATH is doing better than expected. The numbers match.
  • Ava
    Isn’t it hilarious that the nonnies are trying to convince everyone that SWATH won’t do well? They are scared shitless.
  • Golddigger99
    I saw the movie twice already–it was that AMAZING! I haven’t seen a film this enchanting since Lord of the Rings!
  • JessMarie414
    @Observer/Nonnie (I DO realize its the same troll. You all seem to post at exactly.the.same.time. You would think you would learn by now).
    Sell out? Please explain how Kristen is a sell out. Did she say before that she would never do big budget films? No. In fact she specifically said that she wanted to do both indies and big budgets films during a BDp1 interview. And Rob just said in an decent interview that he wanted to do the same thing. So if Kristen is a ‘sell out’ then so is Rob. And Jennifer Lawrence since she is doing the Xmen movies. That would all fall under your definition of a sell out.
  • HappyHungerGames
    Oh thats rich. “dont count your chickens before they’re hatched”. Wasn’t it you nonnies who were just saying a couple of months ago how Jennifer L would be bigger than Kristen. Look again sweetheart. It ain’t happening. I guess you did count your chickens too soon.
  • ABC
    It’s 15 rotten and 24 fresh, just one more bad review and the top critics score drops to rotten, too. The viewer rating has dropped from 90 to 74, that’s nothing to brag about.
    I did see the movie and the accents were bad. They came and went, and what little dialog Stewart has sounded totally fake. She had no emotion in her voice when she spoke, most of the critics said it was impossible to symphathize with her, they were rooting for the Queen.
    Stewart is just too cold and distant, she doesn’t connect with audiences. It’s obvious the director didn’t have faith in her, regardless of what he says in interviews, since he didn’t expand on her dialog. They hid her in the trailers, she’s barely visible in the poster, and people in the movie have to describe her rather than let her speak.
    Even her fans admit next weekend will drop off, but the difference is, with a hit movie, the drop is not so far. This movie will probably get at least a 70 or 80 percent drop off and that means it doesn’t have legs. Meanwhile, THG is still in theaters, even though it came out in March.
  • HappyHungerGames
    Here I am at the theater for my second showing of SWATH. I wish I could take a pic and show you all the people waiting for SWATH but I’d have to post it to my fb and I don’t want the idiot nonsten that trolls here anywhere near it. TONS of people!
  • JessMarie414
    That’s more like it Cowboy! I know that you aren’t a fan of Rob and I applaud you for ignoring him and focusing on Kristen. I just wish the nonstens would take your example. Instead they show how much they like Rob by obsessing over Kristen. Because that makes so much sense, right?
    It’s okay to like one and not the others but that doesn’t make it okay to trash the one you don’t like. It’s very simple to ignore a person you don’t like.
  • Anonymous
    While Krisbians throw around the word “nonsten” like they’re being terribly witty, they should know it’s easy to spot a Krisbian who has their head shoved so far up KSTEW’S posterior they cannot see daylight…or reason…or logic.
    1. They share one brain. They pile on like the lemmings and call anyone who says something that sounds like it might possibly be an opinion, a “hater.”
    2. They ignore valid reviews from actual movie critics who aren’t “haters” and have absolutely no stake in how KSTEW’s career goes, and instead act like the wizard: “Pay no attention to those bad reviews! Look! The movie made a whole bunch of money in its first weekend!” and “anyone who says anything bad is a HATER!” Right. Because those critics are all in love with Rob and are totally jealous she’s going out with him. Oh, and “SHE’S SO PRETTY!!!”
  • Scout
    According to BOM both Adventurleand and In The Land of Women were flops. Hits are based on box office, and neither of them made a profit. A film has to make a profit to be considered a hit.
    It’s too funny that you have to go all the way back to Panic Room to find a hit, her first film, and a Jodie Foster film.
    And the reason her indies get a limited release it because they’re so bad, theater owners don’t want them in their theaters. Many low budget films have become big hits, like The Artist, Sideways, Little Miss Sunshine, etc. They get wider releases because they’re good and popular. The same can’t be said for Stewart’s films, and you can’t blame that on limited releases. Good films find an audience, no matter how the release starts out.
    And Universal lowered the numbers because the tracking indicated it might not reach $55 million, and it isn’t going to make that number. They lowered expectations so that they could claim it was performed better than expected. It’s an old trick.
  • JessMarie414
    Obviously you don’t understand the story. She was trapped in a cellar for many years where she didn’t speak with anyone. She is supposed to be shy, introverted, cold, and distant. This isn’t the happy go lucky princess that sings to animals and smiles constantly.
    All viewer ratings drop some. Even if the audience voted 100% you would still find something to compin about. Her accent was perfect and critics agreed that it was the best out of the cast. She wasn’t supposed to be super emotional or talkative.
    Yes, EVERY MOVIE drops after the first weekend. This isn’t new to SWATH. The Avengers dropped 50%. THG dropped around 40%. MIB3 dropped 40%. Even the Twi movies dropped the second weeks and look how well they did. So yes, SWATH will drop next week and the week after that. Good lord, you idiots have aboslutely no common sense do you?
    THG only has one or two more weeks in theaters. Twelve is usually the maximum. No one is saying that SWATH is going to do better than THG overall and yet you keep getting stuck on that. You say that SWATH will drop 70-80% next week but you have no proof. Once again. The people who flexing the box office numbers disagree with you. They believe that SWATH will make $150 to $220 domestically alone. Thats not even including domestic which has another 18 territories opening in two weeks. And these people are A LOT smarter than you. Once again you ignore facts even when they are shoved right under your nose.
    You forgetting that BDp1 and Alice in Wonderland didn’t get the best reviews. And look how much they made.
  • JessMarie414
    ^^^ I meant not even including foreign numbers.
  • Chloe
    lmao, at least SWATH didn’t have to use the BD2 teaser trailer to lure in twilight fans. Talk about pathetic.
  • cinchi
    While the movie is certainly tracking at the high end of expected box office ($48m to $55m for the opening weekend was expected), it’s hardly in the realm of Twilight and even more so not in The Hunger Games box office league, and was never expected to be. The movie is projected to do $100m domestic with a $170m budget and it looks on track to meet domestic box office projections. The marketing budget is another $30-$40m (for a $200-$210 total budget) so the movie is relying on Kristen’s international name recognition to pull in movie goers internationally to turn a profit. It’s opening weekend is good enough for it not to be considered a bomb, but it needs to hold it’s numbers going into the next couple weekends where it faces some major wide releases before it can truly be considered a hit. That jury is still out, but it’s certainly off to a promising start.
  • Megan
    I saw it yesterday before all the bad reviews came out, I wish I had waited. What I don’t understand about such a big budget film is why the make up was so bad. In lots of Kristin’s close up you could see bags and big dark circles under her eyes.
    It was very distracting and it sure didn’t make her look like the fairest of them all. It was especially bad near the end of the film in her scenes with Sam Clafin. She looked haggard, not beautiful like Snow White is supposed to look. Did they run out of concealer? You could also see Kristin’s freckles, which didn’t work for that skin as white as snow thing.
    I know this was filmed in the UK, and it looks like she spent every night in a pub and then refused to sit in the make up chair for more than five minutes. Really, when you’re working on a film you should try to get more sleep or carry your own concealer. Flaws are very obvious on the big screen and ruin the magic.
  • guest
    it seems we have a lot of expert critics in here ! i love it when some people can’t make their own decision to go and enjoy a movie . they have to rely on a bunch of obnoxious wannabe screenwriters , actors, or even producers … obviously they failed therefore they become critics…it’s funny they find movies like Chronicle great or some horror flick “the loved ones ” worth watching which is the same stories rehashed all over ,, this is summer time for fun silly popcorn movies , unfortunately you will always have people that only see movies from a critic’s point of view not their own. Americans are so hang-up on $ and box office take it has become ridiculous if a movie doesn’t make a freaking billion dollars it’s a failure even if that movie double or triple their budget,”no it didn’t make 700 millions failure” …i love movies in general saw some great ones and some bad ones and have no regrets ,, so to the critics specially the obnoxious ones over at rotten tomatoes they need to chill out stop taking that non-job so seriously … movies should be fun , laughed at when their stupid scream when scary maybe cry a little if sad… but not to be dissected by pretentious so called critics they completely take the fun out of going to the movies!
  • JessMarie414
    @ Scout-
    Please link us where BOM says that In the Land of Women and Adventureland were flops. Please.
    ItLoW:
    Budget -$10,000,000
    Box Office -$17,562,071
    Adventureland:
    Budget. -$10,000,000
    Box Office -$17,164,377
    The marketing budgets for indies are very small since they are only shown in a limited number of theaters. At the very most it would be an additional 50% of the production budget.
    Example:
    $10,000,000 production budget + $5,000,000 advertising = $15,000,000
    While it wasn’t a huge profit it certainly didn’t flop.
    Did you not see where Ava said The Messengers? That was in 2007 and before Twilight. It did as well as Remember Me.
    You are so full of crap. If she was so bad in those movies then why did she get excellent reviews in them? Do you realize that Bel Ami will only be released in five US cities? Does that mean that theater owners didn’t like Rob? Your logic is baffling.
    Moonrise Kingdkm premiered at Cannes and it was only released in four theaters. So I guess theater owners don’t like Cannes films either, right?
    I’m the one who said that Universal was lowballing the numbers in the other thread. What difference does it make? MIB3 made the exact same amount as SWATH is predicted to and it’s estimate was the same. Right now SWATH is on track to make between $400- $500 million worldwide. You keep saying its lower but you don’t have any proof.
  • Elizabeth
    Too bad it’s so hard for you to admit that the only people who are saying this is a good movie are Kristen fans who say everything she does is good. You have no objectivity.
    The script is bad, it relies too much on special effects, the audience doesn’t care about the characters, the dwarfs are underutilized, Kristen was miscast and isn’t inspiring enough, the Prince is weak, the Huntsman’s accent sticks out like a sore thumb, Charlize chews the scenery and the movie takes way too long to tell a garbled story.
    Universal has had a string of bad movies, watch the studio head get fired.
  • Chloe
    Yes, let’s blame the makeup on Kristen. Totally makes sense since she has complete control over the makeup department. If Sanders didn’t like how the character looked then he could have changed it.
  • Chloe
    So Kristen’s fans paid off those top critics and a could portion of the regular ones? They paid for the 75% fan approval rating on rotten tomatoes? Or the 70% rating on imdb? That make sense. Why can’t you accept that not everyone hates her like you claim? And when did anyone here say that everything she does is good? You are making crap up. I agree that the script could have been better and the movie dragged a little bit but it was pretty damn good.
    And by the way, SWATH is being hailed as a saving grace for Universal following Battleship’s flop.
  • JessMarie414
    That’s like blaming Rob for Edward’s bad makeup.
  • JessMarie414
    I agree with what your saying. SWATH was never compared to THG. But your domestic prediction is a little low. Box Office. com predicts $160 million and HitFix predicts $220 million. Foreign prediction is at $280 million. I promise that I’m not making these numbers up, the links are towards the top of the page.. I get thats it’s just a prediction but these sites are usually dead on. It will *easily* make its budget back.
  • JessMarie414
    You know how you can tell a nonsten troll apart from people who just don’t like her? People who just don’t like her don’t take the time to research things on her. They don’t waste their time talking about her. They don’t pretend to post under multiple names to convince people that she isn’t well liked. Nonsten trolls do all of those. They also can’t back up what they say with proof. They are obsessed with her.
    Obviously some of those reviews are anti Twilight. If you are too dense to realize that then I can’t help you. And it’s not just Kristen. If you look at reviews for Abduction, Remember Me, and Water for Elephants you will see anti Twilight reviews there as well. There is a difference between anti Twilight and anti Robsten. Unfortunately Twilight is a joke for many critics and they love to tear it apart any chance they get. That has nothing to do with Rob and Kristen’s relationship and no one here said that it did.
    All we are saying is that top critics are there for a reason. And more of them like SWATH than not. Simple. The majority of people who saw it liked it. We aren’t saying that you have to like it.
    You keep acting like we are the ones saying that SWATH will be successful. It’s a prediction from experts who are usually very, very close. If you want to hate on the people saying that SWATH is doing well then hate on them.
    You know what else nonstens are known for? Not accepting facts or proof when it’s right under your nose. We provide links that back up our story and you still think that we are the ones making his up. Too bad for you. How very pathetic your life must be.
  • Chloe
    Agreed. Critic reviews are nice to look at but if you aren’t mature enough to decided whether you want to see a film or not on your own then you probably shrouding be watching films in the first place. Breaking Dawn got horrible reviews and yet it made more money than the hunger games which had much better reviews.
  • XYZ
    Why is that? Just because of bad reviews? Fuck with bad reviews!!! They are just bunch of losers who were surprised that SWATH turned out what they expected not to be.
    Bad reviews or not, no one can stop me and no one can forbid me & see SWATH. What a normal person does is go & see the movie & judge it for him/herself. Everyone has his/her own way of viewing a movie. So if I were you, go & see the movie first before you criticize. If you don’t like it, so be it. At least you have contributed to SWATH’s success.
  • XYZ
    So you have seen the movie. Well, thanks for your contribution to SWATH success. You can’t thank me for THG’s success because I still haven’t seen that movie and I am not even planning to see it.
  • http://barrywatch.net/ Albertiner
    Men In Black 3 should remain a strong #2 with approximately $29 million in box office receipts, crossing the $100 million mark overall.
  • Megan
    No, it’s not anything like that. Edward is a vampire, he’s supposed to look unnatural. Snow White is supposed to be beautiful, flawless, but a human being. Her skin is supposed to be white, not freckled.
    She’s not supposed to have bags under her eyes or big, dark circles. If the director isn’t going to pay attention to things like that, I would think as an actress, she would have made sure the concealer and ice bags were applied before going to the set. It’s incumbent upon someone playing the fairest of them all to be concerned about her character’s appearance. And get enough sleep so you don’t have bags under your eyes and need so much concealer.
  • whatever
    I don’t care about the hunger games, the competition in ticket sales, or even twilight–I just want to say that I really enjoyed swath, i was not disappointed with anyone’s acting, the special effects were amazing, and yes, I loved Kristen’s performance-her accent was okay. Seriously, I don’t know why people are hating so much. Isn’t it more logical, less time-consuming, and less irritating to just ignore what you dislike, or, in many cases, despise? Whatever, I loved the movie and that’s that.
  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqdAXdMhw8w ✭MegO-BTB✭
    Maybe the director liked the look of Snow White being tired ect considering she’d been locked away for years!
  • Con135
    They were probably there for Charlize Theron
  • Nina
    The Hunger Games remained at #1 for four weeks in a row, something not even the Avenges could do. It set various records, and it’s a franchise the fans can be proud of, like Harry Potter. It might even see some Oscar nominations next year.
    I’m doubting SWATH will have a sequel, and if it does, it won’t focus on SW. Sam Clafin was as miscast as Kristen was, audiences aren’t interested in seeing their story continued.
  • Malten
    The math works out to $340 million before it can even begin to show a profit if you insist on using the 2 times the budget formula instead of the industry standard of 3 times the budget. It’s not just the production budget and the promo budget, and this promo budget looks more like $125 million anyway, they flew the whole cast all over the world.
    It’s not going to make $340 million worldwide, it’s just not possible.
  • XYZ
    Thank you for emphasizing it. Finally the proof came out how dedicated & professional she was. She always came in very early for the shooting and left very late. That means only few hours of sleep that not even a concealer can hide her lack of sleep. She had no time for pub either. Did you see a lot of photos of Kristen going out at night while filming SWATH in UK? Next time, think first before you open your mouth.
    What are you trying to imply – “I know this was filmed in the UK, and it looks like she spent every night in a pub” – ? Are you implying that all English people spend every night in a pub?
  • XYZ
    Well said…
  • Anonymous
    Don’t tell us what to do! If I want to see it I will. Funny, all Twilight movies have gotten horrible reviews…yet it still makes big money. Clearly reviews don’t impact on what people watch. I read them to see someone else’s perspective…but that does not decide what I watch.
  • HappyHungerGames
    You have to be the only person saying that the vamps makeup in the twilight movies is actually good. I like the movies and I think they are horrible. As for Kristen’s makeup, it’s not her job to make sure her makeup is perfect. The director obviously wanted it that way or he would have told the make up artist to fix it. Like you said, concealer can do wonders. It’s not Kristen’s job to apply her own makeup.
    Your hate for Kristen is overshadowing how good the movie is. While I haven’t seen the movie yet…the trailers and posters definitely have Kristen in them. I don’t know what you’re watching.
  • Anonymous
    Exactly. While reviews are interesting to read, only the ones from critics, ultimately I decide if I watch something or not. And SWATH I’m coming for you a few times!
  • TheHungerGames
    @Nina— You are seriously going to compare the hunger games to the avengers? THG came out in a slow box office month (March). It had no competition. The Avengers was the first summer movie. It grossed more worldwide in less than two weeks than THG did total. It beat everything (HP, Twi, THG). It’s the third highest grossing film ever and this is only its fifth week.
    And THG might have set record but it only beat a few of the twilight saga’s records. It made less world wide than New Moon, Eclipse, or Breaking Dawn. The twilight movies have made over $2.5 billion so far. THGs three movies won’t surpass that.
    Universal has already greenlit a sequel. And obviously you haven’t seen the movie since it isn’t clear which one SW ends up with. Kristen was talking about a sequel the other day in an interview.
  • Anonymous
    Ummm maybe they wanted her to look tired and thin and frail….considering she has been locked away for years…and then runs around a forest? It would be ridiculous is SW looks like some model after she escapes the castle, jumps into a sewer…and is chased by the queens guard. And Snow White is meant to be naturally beautiful…which Kristen is. Stop trying to find imperfections where they’re aren’t any.
  • Anonymous
    You don’t get the point of the movie. Your comment shows that.
  • Anonymous
    Also, Kristen worked 6 days a week, every week until the movie was done. She had long days and nights. If she worked during the day she would get back to her apartment at 10pm. Then wake up at 5am for work. She worked a few nights where she would get to set by 6pm and not leave until 7am the next day. This is coming from her dialect coach and those who worked with her. So I don’t know where these every night in a pub…and refused to sit in the makeup chair is coming from. You are delusional.
    Where are you getting this whole budget times three bullshit? It’s always been double.  I don’t see you providing any proof that is three times the budget.
    Like JM414 said Spiderman was a $200 million film with an additional $100 million for promotions. Do you seriously think that SWATH’s promo budget is higher than Spidermans? No way, no how.
    You can keep insisting that SWATH won’t make more than $340 million even though the predictions are much higher but the predictions are typically right. There’s no point arguing with you since you won’t listen to reason.
  • HappyHungerGames
    ^ ignore the first paragraph. I accidently copied that from a list above.
  • Anonymous
    Agreed. While I like to read what critics have to say…just for a different but credible opinion, it has no bearing on whether I will watch a movie or not.
  • Megan
    There were several sightings of her in pubs with various actors, while they were on location in the Lake district especially, did you miss them? And even if you have early calls and late shoot, it’s still part of your job as an actress to get enough sleep that you look well rested, not like you’ve been up all night.
    SW is supposed to be naturally beautiful, all the time, even when running through the forest. It was just sloppy make up and an actress who didn’t take care of herself while filming. She always had tons of eye make up and drawn on eyebrows, they just neglected to cover her freckles and the dark circles under her eyes.
    And the person who said 90 percent of the things in the trailer weren’t in the movie was right, they aren’t. Those trailers were very misleading.
  • Lauren
    Kristen’s acting lacks depth of emotion and it was just stunt casting to pull in viewers from the Twilight fans.
    I hate that it was the Huntsman’s kiss that awakens SW. What a gyp. It’s just like Bella kissing Jacob and being happier to dance with him at her wedding reception than she was to marry Edward. She looked like she was being led to a torture chamber when she went toward Edward and in this, the Prince’s kiss has no effect on her. No wonder women can’t identify with her.
    And her speech to rally the troops was one of the most poorly written Braveheart copies I’ve ever seen. Funny, everyone else who was riding off to battle had a helmet on, but not her. Great way to be a target and get your head bashed in. Only not in this movie. And pulling her hair back only emphasizes how big her ears are. I felt sorrier for the Queen at th end than I did for SW at any point during the film. Kristen just doesn’t inspire empathy.
  • XYZ
    I think you’re one of those who put a high barrier of expectation of this movie and Kristen’s performance and now you’re so disappointed when they are not met. Blame it to the director and scriptwriter. Kristen was just playing SW’s role how they want her to play.
    Thank you for sharing your opinion and most of important of all thank you very much for your contribution to SWATH’s success. If you are done, go to the left & move on.
  • XYZ
    There were just sightings but no proof. It is not part of actress’ job to get enough sleep so that she will look well rested. It is actress’ job to come in on time and do her work on the set. It’s nobody’s business what you do after your work. Having said that, you don’t even have a right to mention here what Kristen was doing after the shooting. It is nobody’s business.
    If she doesn’t look that good in SWATH according to your eyes, so what? If you see shadow under her eyes or freckles on her face, so what? Only the haters can see these kind of things. The true fans of Kristen overlook them. We don’t care because we all know she is naturally beautiful (with or without make-up).
    Yes, SW is beautiful all the time but you forget that this is not the fairytale version. Mirror (2x) is the fairytale version. I’m just curious what your comment was about that movie or most probably you didn’t go & see that movie because Kristen was not in it for you to criticize.
    As for the trailer, no comment on that one as I haven’t seen the movie yet. I leave it to others to comment. Or better, ask Rupert Sanders, the director and bombard him with all your critics about the movie. After all, he is the director.
  • lise
    OMG, you guys are all crazy… this is just a movie and kristen was a part of it, that’s all, if you want watch it if not then don’t.. but WTH with you looking box office, critics about stewart? WTH with kristen??
  • Beli
    no, you’re wrong, they are Twilight’s fans but the massive publicity created too many expectations and now they are unhappy
  • Bobbie
    Uh confused at the post. If SW brought in 21 million and MIB 3 brought in 29 million I think MIB is still number 1 until all the numbers are in for the weekend?
  • Anonymous
    The 21mil was just for Friday for SWATH, 29mil is MIB3′s total for the weekend while SWATH is around 55.
  • Anonymous
    I love how the haters come in here to constantly whine over and over again giving Kristen more buzz. Look at the number of comments on this post compared to the Avengers one. These haters want her to go away but they are as obsessed with her as her fans and watch her movies and read every article and contribute to Kristen’s star power. If there was a celebrity that I didn’t like, I would ignore them and not contribute to their star power. So thanks to the haters as well as the fans, Kristen is here to stay as long as she wants to. :)
  • Anonymous
    Thanks for contributing to the SWATH box office totals and giving Kristen post-twilight box office credibility.
  • Anonymous
    All of the critics I respect gave SWATH good reviews. That is all that mattered to me.
  • Anonymous
    “carry your own concealer” omg what a ridiculous thing to say. How do you know how much time she spent in the makeup chair? There was like one sighting of them out by the lakes and pubs over there are also restaurants. She was not home so where else was she going to eat? Plus she is portraying someone who is on the run and you think she should look well rested?
  • Insatnlf
    I like Kristen Stewart’s movies and I have respect for her work, etc. Yet, there is something about her acting technique that makes me annoyed a bit. I call it Bella’s ‘Jake-I’m-so-sorry- I-hurt-you-again’ face, which she uses much too often in her movies.I think the best jobs she’s done so far were in Cake Eaters, Into the Wild and -yes- the part of Breaking Dawn part 2 when she gets pregnant till the end of this movie (which was deeply emotional and she nailed showing it). Normally I don’t watch movies for mass audience at the cinema. I went to see the movie today, though, and honestly, it really is a very decent one. Yeah, I noticed it too, that she did not have a helmet, yet details like this usually do not bother me so much. Those who simply find faults in it, probably themseleves don’t know what they want. Remember that this is a blockbuster Hollywood fantasy movie. What depth do you expect in it? Visual and sound effects are great, nice action, Kristen Stewart gives a decent perfomance, Theron is evil, and a little bit of cheesy dialogue is normal in this kind of a story. It’s a darker version of Snow White’s story, decently made.Just enjoy it, period.
  • Ramona08
    I thought the make up and even dirt under nails was appropriate. This was not a Disney imagining of Snow White. I saw Friday and thought it was great.
  • Wtf
    You do realize you look like an idiot. SWATH has been a fucking HUGE success.. Kristen is getting rave reviews, as is the rest of the cast, and many theatres are still reporting sold out shows. Kristen proved yet again, she can bring it to the box office. I know that hurts you haters, but oh fucking well.
  • Info
    @Nina- Sorry but THG won’t getting any Oscar noms. Franchise movies are not Oscar material.
  • Syndi
    The thing about Kristen haters is you can spot them a mile away. You do realize Snow White was locked in a dungeon, and when she escapes, she is on the run, and then getting prepared to battle the Queen. Not to mention the movie is set in a medevial time period when bathtubs and soap weren’t available. I think it would have been distracting if she looked like she just walked out of a salon considering her character is on the run. So funny that one thing the critics agree on is Kristen looking beautiful as Snow White. Maybe when you grow up you learn to appreciate films with substance.
  • Syndi
    Wow, the joke is on you. Maybe you should know what you are talking about, instead of copying and pasting haters comments. SWATH is a bonafide boxoffice hit. SWATH brought in more than just Twilight or Kristen fans. Kristen’s already huge fanbase just got bigger. Many fans are still reporting theatres being sold out of tickets so SWATH is doing pretty damn well. Luckily for us we don’t pay attention to haters with no class.
  • mg
    The movie was great, the acting was great, I loved the movie! Kristen was Snow White, this was not about a Disney movie, where she danced around waiting for her prince. How many times must the cast and director say ” that this is not your normal fairy tale”. And in answer to Kristin’s beauty, take your hateful blinders off people and really look at her, she is a natural beauty. I can’t wait to go and see this movie again and again.
  • love
    i dont get it. why so much hate. the movie was great. Kristen was great in it. if u dont hv anything nice to say dont bother say anything at all. god save hater’s soul.
  • Stfu
    Stupid ass Krisbians, the movie didnt get all this money JUST from Kristen being in it. SHE HAS OTHER CO-STARS IN IT. 2 THAT ARE MORE FAMOUS THAN SHE IS, EVEN!!
  • XYZ
    Krisbians? The last time I checked, my partner has a penis.
  • XYZ
    I agree.
  • Yep
    “Too bad it’s so hard for you to admit that the only people who are saying this is a good movie are Kristen fans who say everything she does is good. You have no objectivity. ”
    LOL MTE!
  • Truth
    mte! It was HER movie!!
  • Wtf
    Never underestimate the power of Kristen and her fans here is an article from The Inquisitr……
    The fairest movie of them all this weekend and sitting more than comfortably at #1 (U.S) is Snow White and The Huntsman. A solidly, stonking $ 20.3 million on Friday and midnight screenings take of $ 1.383 million – are set to deliver a $ 55.8 million domestic opening weekend.
    It gets better. Factor in $ 39.3 million international and the weekend global haul pumps up to $ 95.1 million. Defying the augurs of some and exceeding the expectations of many, it’s looks like Universal’s gamble on first time feature director, Rupert Sanders, has paid off – and it’s not over yet.
    Following the trajectory of this weekend SWATH is expected to grab between $250 – $275 million total, effectively making it the movie that bucked the post-Avengers slump, in a market still reeling from that juggernaut’s $1333.4 million estimated worldwide bank (incl this weekend’s expected $ 19 million B.O).
    Suffering in the backsplash of The Avengers – Battleship, Dark Shadows, The Dictator – failed to light box office fire, and even Men in Black 3 with its $ 54 million opening last week, is a less-than-overwhelming punch for an existing franchise with a still popular leading man.
    Considering one retelling of the Snow White story – Tarsem Singh’s Mirror Mirror (domestic debut $ 18,132,085, before taking $ 160,443,139 worldwide) – has already been and gone, the fact that there was even appetite for another Snow White speaks volumes.
    It says this: An old story is still a new story if it speaks to something audiences want to see and hear. Reviews may have mixed, but enough critics had great things to say – and nearly all have been surprised by SWATH’s box office this weekend. One wonders why.
    Surely The Hunger Games, The Avengers, Harry Potter and The Twilight Saga have taught us one thing: Fandoms are powerful. And if sufficiently harnessed, they can move mountains.
    Chris Hemsworth may have swung the axe, but it was Stewart that swung the audience vote. This weekend, her massive fanbase – many of whom connected with her star long before Twilight, and certainly afterwards – came out in force to show the color of their money.
    Theron and Hemsworth, though big names in the game, don’t inspire anything like the level of passion and sense of solidarity Stewart’s fans feel. Combine that with an across-the-generations, pop culture appeal – and it’s clear this 22 year-old can command a sizeable army on and off screen.
    As Vincenzo Tagle, Anthony Scott and many others have noted, Snow White’s journey from imprisonment to liberation to leader is, and will continue to be, a reflection of a gathering tide of female force in film. This year’s Cannes Film Festival may not have included any female directors, but for actresses these are interesting times.
    Inside the forms of Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley, Linda Hamilton’s Sarah Connor, Jody Foster’s Sarah Tobias, Milla Jojovich’s Alice, Angelina Jolie’s Lara Croft, Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Buffy, Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen – beats the heart of ancient heroines: Gaia, Deborah, Boadicea, Joan of Arc among them.
    In their way, each of the above expresses the most potent feminine principle. And it’s not just in film, but music too. Titans like Tina Turner, Stevie Nicks, Joni Mitchell and Nina Simone, have given way to Madonna, Pink, Bjork, Florence Welch, Beyonce and Gaga – and it goes further.
    None of these women mentioned comes from nowhere. Looking at each – including Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron – one sees a spectrum of family backgrounds. Solid, broken, trauma-filled, difficult, nurturing – it’s all there.
    Because the truth is, there is no one way for a strong, inspirational female to emerge. But the road is well lit now. Despite the pervasive, submissive conditioning still present in the global culture all females exist in – somehow – the cream still rises.
    Millions got behind SWATH this weekend and there’s a real sense this could continue. Around the world, parents with kids, teens,young men and women – and older – piled into multiplexes with one thing on their mind. They wanted to see Snow succeed.
    Because when she does, we all do.
  • anon
    this is getting ridiculous..really? with all the numbers???u hve to get that far???? if u dont like it dont watch it.. it’s like u r obsessed with kristen. she’s just an actress. why u guys treat her like she’s some sort of mass murderer or something. this kind of hatred is not healthy. if u despise her just go away. urghhh. haters r sick
  • DUMBASS
    LOFL, GET REAL, KRAZY KRISTEN STAN
  • Wtf
    SWATH is number 1 in 30 countries!!!!!!!
  • Idiots
    “You have now shown the haters that you can pull in an audience outside of the Twilight movies (bc apparently pre Twi movies dont count). ” Duh, dumbass, because its a blockbuster type movie. Put Kristen in a smaller studio movie and it will bomb. She cant open a movie on her own. Her 2 co-stars ARE FAR BIGGER than she is or ever will be!
  • Wtf
    JessMarie414 was 100% correct. SWATH has made 56 million so far. You moniker suits you well….DUMBASS
  • Wtf
    Awwww, is the Kristen hater having a fit because Kristen’s movie is #1, and not because of Chris or Charlize. Go cry hater…
  • XYZ
    Wow!!! Girl Power!!!
  • Janet
    WTF is a “nonsten”?
    You little Twihards seem to have an average age of 15 and an average IQ which is the inverse of that, if you’re smart enough to figure that out, which I doubt most of you are.
  • Ht354c21
    @JessMarie414 – you are soo…ooo right – we’re here in one of Georgia theater – SWATH was full packed!! People all types….from young men & young women to old couples and average couples as husband and I……were all there!! When the movie was over 2 hours later, we still saw a long lines outside started like all over again!! We definitely enjoyed this epic beloved fairy tale with the morden twisted! Need the sequel!!!
  • Newton
    Kristen is such a mouth breather, it’s horribly distracting. When she’s alone in her cell, there’s no dialog but plenty of gasping breaths. This is while she’s alone, not while she’s running. The shaky cam started when she escaped and I got nauseated when she was emerging from the ocean, the camera movement was so dizzying. Convenient she found an already tamed white horse waiting for her.
    Her stunt double got a good workout, sliding through that sewer and then riding through the forest. You could see the shots of Kristen were close ups, shot while she was on her fake white horse. Then wandering though the forest, breathing through her mouth again. And her hair looked dyed, it didn’t look natural.
    In her close ups when she was making the deal with the Huntsman she looked like she was about 35 years old. The make up was not doing its job. Too many late nights showed in her face. In the final shot of the troll scene she looks like she’s 45. Since she never closes her mouth it just makes her buck teeth stand out more. They looked especially large, and scary when upside down.
    Poor Claflin looked good but he just comes across as weak.
    The escape from the burning village scene was just an excuse for an action scene and it was so badly directed you couldn’t tell what was going on. Really badly directed fight scenes, just a mess. Good thing we had free passes, I wouldn’t have wanted to pay to see this.
  • VoluptuousMaja
    Don’t mind the critics! Majority of the viewing audience liked/loved Snow White and the Huntsman and very vocal about seeing it again.
  • Annabella
    Yeah i thought so too my best friend Kade went with me and he actually enjoyed it and of course couldnt say enough of how hot kristen and charlize were lol men I swear Bhutan he really enjoyed the film and there were a lot of men in the theaters some with their buddies and not their girlfriends or wives but just a guys thing so thats cool shows how kristen is really expanding her fan base by doing movies that appeal to men and women
  • Annabella
    I don’t get how you can sit there and talk about fans of kristen throwing around the word “nonsten” but yet here you are using the label “krisbian” does that make you feel witty? All these labels are childish and of course there will be bad reviews for any type of movie I’m sure your point is valid where some critics didn’t like the movie that falls on the writers and director not kristen so I’m not sure what point you are trying to make. There are some extreme kristen fans who give the rest of us a bad name but you already know that you just want to be childish and hurl insults around. And btw there isnt anything wrong with stating the obvious KRISTEN IS VERY PRETTY!
  • Annabella
    Amen!
  • Annabella
    Foul mouthed cockroach, who is saying it was all kristen? She is getting the most attention because this was a good breakout role for her that wasn’t an indie. Everyone is aware that Kristen Charlize and Chris, the whole cast n crew all did a good job and more famous than Kristen according to who? It’s all about perception to say one person is more famous or in the spotlight than someone else depends on all sort of factors and perceptions. Grow up child.
  • Annabella
    Getting the mostmost attention/credit on here*
  • Annabella
    Bhutan is supposed to be “but he”
  • aussiefan4
    We don’t get SWATH untill 21st June here in Australia, but I have the family lined up ready to see this movie,grandchildren included, have watched Kristen’s career flourish (she is wonderful), love Chris and Charlize and Sam not bad either, wonderful cast looking forward to seeing this movie.
  • XYZ
    Welcome to the club girl. I know you have it in you. You can be feisty if you want to…
  • Wtf
    Why do you nonstens even bother? Your wording and limited vocabulary gives you away everytime. We all know your nonsten world has been crushed because Rob made it clear that Kristen is his lady, and he could care less what you nonstens think about it. Why don’t you post a picture of yourself and let all those who have never had the displeasure of seeing who bashes Kristen see what you look like. Are you Sinical Bitch? We all know Sinical Bitch likes to talk about Kristen’s teeth (wtf…nothing wrong with them) and she is the LAST person on earth that should make fun of anyone’s teeth. You see Sinical Bitch has horse teeth, and could more than likely be considered a mouth breather cause her horse teeth are huge. I have seen nonstens who are missing half their teeth, have big front gaps, etc.. and I could go on and on. The fact that Kristen has been on the most beautiful, and best dressed list makes anything you nonstens say look more pathetic than it already is. If you are Sinical Bitch, I hope my comments made you feel like shit. Imagine how Kristen or her family would feel seeing the shit you say about her. You nonstens are fugly hags, some of you don’t even look like women, so save yourselves the embarrassment of making fun of a beautiful actress when you like Shreks sisters.
  • XYZ
    Why do I have to wait for few more days? I want to see it now.. It’s not fair.
  • Buffy_2012
    I have to laugh at the obvious Kristen haters on this board who claim to hate Kristen and not watch her movies but yet they are posting how bad she was in SWATH. Question haters- Unless you have actually seen SWATH how can you post Kristen was or was not good? Either your a liar and you did go see it, or you are just talking out of your ass and copying what other haters have said. SWATH’s success this weekend is proof enough the movie and Kristen were awesome. Kristen, Chris, Charlize and Sam had wonderful chemistry and no one outshined Kristen. Kristen looked beautiful in the movie and she owned the role of Snow White. Kristen’s fans way out number her haters, and the boxoffice numbers are proof of that. Why waste your time here, talking about an actress you do not like?
  • Buffy_2012
    It’s worth the wait!!! Trust me you will love it!!!
  • Buffy_2012
    Post from Kristen’s imdb page.
    I did NOT want to see Snow White and the Huntsman tonight, but my friends talked me into it. Basically because of Twilight, I have been Kristen’s worst critic. As an actor, director, writer, and Theatre enthusiast…..I understand the challenges and pressures of an acting career, especially in the film industry.
    So I gave her the benefit of the doubt and watched the movie. My verdict:
    In Twilight Kristen drank Nyquil. In Snow White, she drank Red Bull. She’s redeemed herself as an actress in my book as she finally showed some depth. I believed everything about her in this role and she did a terrific job. Twilight was an awful film but a great story. Kristen finally got a great role to show her potential. I look forward to seeing more of her, now.
  • Zane
    Do the nonstens run Rotten Tomatoes, too? Are you going to call everyone who has a different opinion a nonsten? I’ve got news for you, there are a lot of people who aren’t impressed with Stewart, and they neither know or care about her private life, they just don’t think she’s much of an actress or a great beauty. And all those lists she’s on are because she’s famous from Twilight and has a full time PR person, not because she deserves to be on them. That horrible color block disaster she wore to the Met Ball proves that.
    Critics Consensus: Snow White and the Huntsman Isn’t the Fairest of Them All 46%
    There’s a good reason fairy tales keep getting adapted to the big screen: stories with heroes, villains, fantastical elements, and lessons on human nature will never go out of style. Still, critics say Snow White and the Huntsman is something of a mixed bag: it’s visually resplendent and full of evocative atmospherics, but it fails to bring its characters or familiar story to stirring new life. The pundits say Snow White is beautiful to look at, and Theron is terrifically malevolent, but too often the film doesn’t quite know how to pull off its tricky balance of fantasy epic and revisionist folktale.
  • Info
    It has been an unbelievable run this opening weekend for Snow White and the Huntsman. It is #1 in 30 countries, pulled in an unexpected estimated weekend box office and now with Queen Elizabeth’s jubilee taking place, which queen trends? Kristen Stewart.
    Go figure lol.
    Yes, Queen Kristen Stewart…uh Snow White…uh Kristen Stewart being Snow White who is a queen, trended worldwide today.
    But moreover, Snow White and the Huntsman has been trending consistently since the midnight showing of SWATH in North America and it has been nonstop since and Box Office has the figures to prove it.
    Box Office.com has Snow White and the Huntsman at #1 on their Twitter Index (see below).
    So SWATH continues to have a huge weekend regardless of any critic, fans have come through.
  • JessieB
    Regardless of what is being said on RT, the fact that SWATH exceeded expectations, and is #1 speaks volumes. You haters need to come up with some new stories. The pr bullshit and saying Kristen’s people paid anyone off has gotten old.
  • Frida
    The director wanted the fairest of them all to look old and tired? Are you serious? If so, that’s just stupid. SW should have been so transcendent and special that she looked young and fresh, even when on the run.
    It’s a fairy tale, not a documentary. You can accept fairies and magic but you still think SW should have looked haggard and ordinary? That doesn’t even make sense. Quit making excuses for their mistakes.
  • Mary Alice
    I loved SWATH! and will go back again! I am not a Twilight Fan however have watched Kristen in other movies and thought she was good! She played her part perfect! with her eyes, she showed her emotions! terror, loneliness, hope, fear, and when she was looking for the huntsman, I was looking with her as she found each person! Kristen was amazing! Charlize was amazing and Chris, well, he is sooo fine! I give the more a 10 out of 10!
  • Mary Alice
    She was suppose to have circles under her eyes! Could you sleep not knowing what was going on and when or if they would kill you. She hadn’t had a bathe! It isn’t the ever day Snow White, if you wanted that version then Mirror Mirror is more for you. Kristen was AWESOME!
  • Mary Alice
    You obviously didn’t see what 98% of the people saw! a natural beauty – purity from Snow White played by Kristen Stewart! There was not mistake! Fairies are not people! So no I don’t expect them to look tired!
  • Anonymous
    Ummm every celebrity has a pr person…your point?
  • Anonymous
    You are a joke..people will not buy the movie if SW didn’t look like she just escaped a castle. If she looked perfect…not a hair out of place you would be jumping down her throat saying if SW suffered through that much she would not look like she just walked off the runway. Kristen can never win.
    Agreed!
    I like kristen stewart and I also think she is lovely. However, I absolutely adore chris hemsworth and he would be the main reason for me to see the movie and besides, no one does evil like charlize.
  • Daphne
    I guess USA Today and the Globe and Mail employ “haters” too. That’s right, everyone who doesn’t think Kristen Stewart is perfection is a hater. You all sound like you’re 12 years old.
    Stunningly shot and inconsistently acted and written, Snow White has enough visual fireworks to keep the film afloat, even if star Kristen Stewart can’t get out of Twilight mode.
    Scott Bowles. USA Today
    There are many splendid reasons to see Snow White and the Huntsman – enough, maybe, not to care that neither Snow White nor the Huntsman rank high among them.
    Rick Groen. Globe and Mail
  • Rose
    Everything is coming up Hemsworth and nothing hurts.
  • Wtf
    Not liking a movie is one thing, but trashing the lead actress because you have a personal grudge against her is shitty and uncalled for. Kristen’s positive reviews out weigh the negative ones. No worries. SWATH was a bigger hit than expected, and Kristen is laughing all the way to the bank.
  • Britan rulz
    ‘Prometheus’ Batters Kristen Stewart’s ‘Snow White And The Huntsman’ At UK Box Office
    Sci-fi epic beats fairy tale reboot by 319%
  • Wtf
    The fact is haters had doomed SWATH to fail, and it kicked ass. How Prometheus performs will not change the fact that SWATH is boxoffice hit, and made alot of people eat their words. For all you know Promethus may not be a big hit in the US.
    Oh. My God!!!!!!! Are you people retarded or just plain effin stupid. Shut the hell up about the bags under hers eyes! This isn’t little miss princess playing with birds in the forest like in the Disney flick. This a dark, retelling. The poor girl was locked in a dungeon for years & years & years. How well did you expect her too look?!? Get your heads out of your Nonsten asses, click off of a Kristen story and go drool over Emma’s Perks trailer & leave your snide bull$hit somewhere else. Thanks, bye.
    to Wtf, a good opening weekend doesn’t mean a film is a hit. It just means it had no competition that weekend. A hit is determined after the film has made a profit.
    Come back and brag if the movie makes over $340 million, because that’s the start of the profit margin. Until then, it’s not a hit.
    I think Prometheus had an even bigger budget, so it will be harder for that to be a hit, but it will be #1 at the box office this weekend and it did 300 percent better in the UK than SWATH. Numbers don’t lie.
    We don’t have a problem with a negative review that is about the movie and not used as a personal attack on Kristen. There is a difference in a review where the reviewer was not feeling Kristen as a Snow White and a reviewer that refers to her a mouth breather, etc.. which is a term used by the nonstens. Both Rob and Kristen receive alot of crap for doing Twilight even though it was a huge boxoffice success. I can respect a negative reviewers opinion when it’s tastefully done, and does not center around the reviewers personal dislike of Kristen and The Twilight Saga. Kristen fans don’t have their heads shoved up her ass, we simply support her and her movies regardless of what any critic has to say. Kristen is well respected in Hollywood and is known for her strong work ethic. She chooses roles that mean something to her and her fans would appreciate.
    Oh jeez! That is your issue? Her make up? I wonder how YOU would look runnig through a forrest trying to escape someone who is out to kill you. You think she maybe should have looked TIRED? Grow up.
    This movie WAS NOT made in the typical “fairy tale” fashion… Did you bother to read or watch ANY of the press about it at all? It was more of a Grimm’s version…. educate yourself.
    You know when I read your comment about her freckles I watch it again and pay more attention to it, do you even realize the young actress that play as Snow White, too, has freckles on her face?
    Sorry, a week later proves the movie is not a hit. The box office overseas is half of what it is in the US, and estimates say it won’t even reach $150 domestic. Even combined with foreign totals, it won’t approach the amount it needs to show a profit, so it wasn’t a hit. It was another move of Kristen’s that failed to make a profit and got bad reviews.
    TINE RECORD Snow White’ one bad apple Grade: C
    By Judith McGinnis
    No doubt director Rupert Sanders thought he’d hit the box office jackpot by casting Stewart as Snow White. “Twilight” fans would all fall in line and first weekend ticket sales would cover the cost of this CGI’d melodrama. (Remember, overhype is the first sign that something’s fishy.) Instead, she’s clearly the one who’s sucking the life out of this movie.
    Because she can’t handle dialogue, Stewart spends much of her time staring soulfully into the camera. With little else to distract audiences, about halfway through the story those two buckteeth seem to get bigger, whiter, almost hypnotic.
    The audience approval has dropped to 59 on RT, which also makes it rotten. Bad word of mouth, just like some people said last weekend after seeing it. The more people see the movie, the lower the score drops.
    Do you think Matt Goldberg at Collider gives a crap who Kristen associates with? He thought she stank in the movie, and so did a bunch of other critics. They can’t all be wrong. She was bad, the script was bad and overall, the movie was bad. It’s not going to make a profit either, so it can’t be called a hit. Movies that don’t make their money back are called failures. Deal with it.
    SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN Review
    by Matt Goldberg, Scored: D
    There’s not much going on with Snow White. The character has three reactions to just about everything: be scared, be confused, or be awed. She’s The Chosen One who never has to wrestle with her destiny or really much of anything. It doesn’t help that Kristen Stewart has no screen presence or chemistry with Hemsworth.
    However, even an incredible actress would still be saddled with atrocious dialogue and a threadbare character. All Snow White has to do is simply trudge around from various locations, waste time in one village, briefly get to know the dwarfs, and then become a champion to people who have known her for all of ten minutes.
