Cartoon cat beats Snooki in trademark battle
3:49 pm, August 13th, 2010
The only thing between Snooki and her trademarking her nickname is… an illustrated cat.
The “Jersey Shore” cast member has found an unusual nemesis in Snooky, the title character of a children’s book called “Adventures of Snooky: Under the Sea.”
Snooki (Nicole Polizzi) applied to trademark her nickname but her application was rejected after the government determined there was a “likelihood of confusion” with the trademarked book’s furry protagonist.
Yes, the government felt people wouldn’t be able to differentiate between the diminutive reality star and a cartoon feline!
Snooki was seeking to trademark her name for “printed matter, namely books,” and “entertainment in the nature of personal appearances by a television personality,” though it’s likely the latter request will be approved.
