SNL Mocks How Marvel “Can’t Fail” Even With Ridiculous Movie Ideas (VIDEO)
Chris Pratt helped “Saturday Night Live” mock Marvel’s ability to turn an even “obscure comic book” like his “Guardians of the Galaxy” and turn it into “the biggest movie of the year.”
In a coming attractions clip, “SNL” notes how Marvel “can’t fail,” and can even make millions of dollars from anything it comes up with. “We don’t even need superheroes anymore,” the company says of their upcoming summer flick Ant-Man. “We made a superhero team by pointing at random words in the dictionary.”
In Creatures of the Cosmos, the fate of the world is in the hands of a pastry chef played by Pratt, a Harlem Globetrotter, an alien real estate sign spinner, a guy dressed as Grimace from the McDonald’s commercials and an office chair.
Marvel’s other flimsy projects include Bus People, based on “the first four people we found on a bus,” Pam about a random woman with that name, and Some Shopping Carts. Pratt, who’s enjoying enormous success with Guardians of the Galaxy, can be seen starring in the fake Marvel movies. It’s pretty funny.
