‘SNL’ Spoofs ‘Game Of Thrones’ With Dragon That Ruins Scenes – WATCH VIDEO
“SNL” spoofed “Game Of Thrones” with its guest host Peter Dinklage doing a fake HBO first-look at Season 6. In the parody video, Dinklage explains that in the next season he gets to do a lot more with the “scene-stealer dragons.” Watch the video below.
In the mock first-look, Bobby Moynihan plays a trouble-making dragon, who basically ruins every scene. In one scene, he talks when obviously a dragon shouldn’t. He also complains about having to pee in his costume and gets stuck while connected to aerial wires.
This is hardly the first time “Game Of Thrones” has been the subject of a “Saturday Night Live” bit. In 2013, “SNL” did a mock game show called “Game Of Game Of Thrones,” in which contestants had to answer questions, much like “Jeopardy,” about different subjects related to the hit HBO series. All the questions were very specific about “Game Of Thrones,” except those chosen by guest host Zach Galifianakis, who played an overzealous fan of the series, dressed in a dragon costume. His questions were about real-life things, including explaining a Roth IRA.
In 2014, Bobby Moynihan dressed up as the author of “Game Of Thrones,” George R.R. Martin, and talked during “Weekend Update” about having writer’s block, and how he developed names and plots. He said he created his stories, based partially on his own life, noting the next kings in his series are “Ross, Rachel, and Chandler,” which he came up with after watching “Friends.”
And in 2015, “SNL” did a spoof of “Games Of Thrones” meeting the hood in the mythic violent village of “South Centros.” Ice Cube’s house was at war with the Lannisters. And after Ice Cube (played by Kenan Thompson) was murdered, the real Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaime Lannister on the HBO series, was seen saying, “Don’t hate the slayers, hate the game!”
