Amy Smart and Troian Bellisario’s new indie movie Sister Cities was shut down during its first day of filming on Friday after a location scout found a grenade on the Altadena, California set, a production source tells Gossip Cop. Were told director Sean Hanish called on-set fire officials after the rusty grenade was discovered near the set. After that, the police and a bomb squad were summoned to the production.

Our insider tells Gossip Cop that production was halted for two hours during the bomb scare and Smart, Bellisario, Stana Katic, and Jess Weixler were evacuated. Their co-stars Alfred Molina and Michelle Trachtenberg were not on the set at the time.

Once the grenade was removed from the area, production on Sister Cities resumed. Gossip Cop is told “the mood on set is totally fine now,” and “everyone is relieved, but now there’s a sense of urgency” because so much shooting time was lost, and today is the movie’s first day of production. Sister Cities, based on a play of the same name, is slated to hit theaters sometime in 2016.
