Sinead O’Connor and Husband Barry Herridge Split Up After Just 16 Days

Sinead O’Connor has already split from her new husband.

The singer, who recently wed Barry Herridge, announced on Monday that she and her husband ended the marriage on Christmas Eve, just 16 days after tying the knot on December 8 in Las Vegas.

On her website O’Connor wrote, “From the moment myself and my husband got together not long ago, there was intense pressure placed upon him by certain people in his life, not to be involved with me. These were people who had never met me but had formed opinions of me based on what they read about ‘Sinead ‘O’Connor’ in the media etc.”

She said, “Within 3 hours of the ceremony being over the marriage was kyboshed by the behaviour of certain people in my husband’s life. And also by a bit of a wild ride i took us on looking for a bit of a smoke of weed for me wedding night as I don’t drink. My husband was enormously wounded and very badly effected by that experience and also by the attitude of those close to him toward our marriage. It became apparent to me that if he were to stay with me he would be losing too much to bear. And that being with me was not going to serve him positively… And a woman wants to be a joy to her husband. So.. U love someone? Set them free.”

“He is a wonderful man. I love him very much,” the statement read, with O’Connor adding, “We made a mistake rushing into getting married… He has been terribly unhappy and I have therefore ended the marriage.”

O’Connor, who claimed she and Herridge “part amicably,” has been married four times.

    Well said!! Between these 2 andthe Kardashians I have no idea what goes any more. Nothing can save nor destroy the sactity of marriage as a whole. Each marriage is only as real as the emotions of the 2 people in it, regardless of their sex(es).

    Am I the only one who had a chuckle over this? This is the reason I will never get married it just doesn’t mean anything.. a marriage is no more stable then any other relationship, simply a piece of paper any judge can rip in two pieces.. Glad I never wanted a white dress..

    Marriage does still mean something despite how individuals treat it. Sinead has always been emotionally unstable and difficult to reason with. She has a lot of obstacles to her own happiness.

    Since you have never been married, your assessment has little validity for anyone other than yourself or others who do not desire marriage. There are still large numbers of people who believe that marriage has meaning for them and do not treat it in the manner of Kim K. or Sinead O’Connor, as something to do to make money or because they are bored and need something to fill their time on Saturday afternoon before they go club hopping.

    Pretty sure I didn’t say anything about anyone else other then myself. But face it the majority of marriages end in devorce. Marriage can be ended just as easy as any other relationship, which was my point. You do not need to be married to prove you love someone, marriage is a piece of paper and love comes from the heart. If marriage means something to you, then great. I guess you would be the kind of women who would never even think of getting divorced no matter what, because if devorce is an option for you, then your whole argument is moot. I have nothing against anyone that gets married, but in this day and age you can not be certain that the person you marry will be the only person you will ever end up with.

    Sara, I agree AND disagree with you. LoL! I agree that most marriages do end in divorce and that basically, it IS just a piece of paper. I happen to have that paper but it isn’t what determines a happy relationship. Like you said, you don’t have to be married to prove your love.

    But I do disagree that Marriage can be ended just as easy. It’s a hell of alot more expensive. Lol! Although, one doesn’t even have to have the actual paper to be “married”. There’s the whole “common law” thing which means that the paper that you actually pay for is pretty much for show. There’s no real purpose in it. In MY opinion. =:o)
