Simone Battle Dead: G.R.L. and Simon Cowell React To Apparent Suicide
Simone Battle’s stunning death at 25 in an apparent suicide has left her fellow G.R.L. singers shattered.
In an Instagram post on Saturday, Natasha Slayton wrote, “I really don’t know how to form thoughts and words rights now. I am inexplicably heartbroken and overcome with sadness over the loss of our best friend and sister, Simone Battle. I am so grateful to have shared some of the best experiences of my life with her, and I will forever be thankful to every ounce of strength, courage and determination she taught me.”
“She was one of the most talented and brilliantly beautiful people (inside and out) I have ever met,” added Slayton. “Simone, I will never understand why you left the way you did, but I will forever love you. Thank you for sharing your endless talents and beautiful, glowing heart with us all. I love you so much.”
G.R.L. member Lauren Bennett was also at a loss.
“We were supposed to conquer together… we were a team, it wasn’t supposed to be this way,” she mourned on Instagram. “We all worked so hard together, united like family for this dream we all shared. Things will never be the same without her.”
Bennett continued, “The thought of her no longer being here is devastating and shocking for myself and all her loved ones. Please show her love, appreciation and celebrate her life the way she deserves. I love you Simone, thank you for sharing your moment in time with mine.”
Simon Cowell, who knew Battle from her “X Factor” days, tweeted, “I am so sad to hear about the news Simone Battle has passed away. She was such a fun nice person. It’s such a loss. Rest in peace Simone.”
“Devastated & upset to hear about the passing of @GRLSimone,” tweeted Nicole Scherzinger. “My prayers go out to her family @robinantinpcd @GRL & my ReignDeer family.”
She added, “Dedicating my performance tonight in South Africa to @GRLSimone & any1 struggling w/a hard time. Please #NeverGiveUp #Madiba #Don’tLoseFaith.”
