Simon Cowell: One Direction To Take ‘Time Off,’ Hope They’ll ‘Get Back Together Again’
One Direction is going to take a break after its fifth album, says Simon Cowell, who leaves open the possibility that they could disband after that. He also talks about Louis Tomlinson becoming a dad in a new interview.
“In terms of the band, they’ve got enough hits now they can take some time off and do some other stuff they want to do. Then I hope they’ll have a little bit of time apart and want to get back together again. It’s a fun job, but it’s absolutely their decision,” tells The Sun.
What also comes through is his affection for its members, Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, and Harry Styles, who were there for him when his mom Julie passed away two weeks ago, and who turn to his as well. Cowell notes that Tomlinson came to him after finding out that Briana Jungwirth was pregnant with his baby. Cowell relates, “I said to him, ‘You man up. You’re fortunate because you’re in a position to be able to look after the baby and not worry too much about that.’”
Cowell also said to Tomlinson, “I’ve received bad calls in my life but this is not one of them. This is your business but I’m here for you.” He scoffs at the idea that the pregnancy will hurt One Direction’s image. Cowell tells the Sun, “He didn’t kill anyone. He got someone pregnant. It happens every day all over the world. Again, Louis has got great family around him and, look, it’s a plus, not a negative.”
