Sienna Miller Posed Naked, Pregnant For Artist’s Portrait (PHOTO)

A pregnant Sienna Miller posed nude for artist Jonathan Yeo just weeks before she and Tom Sturridge welcomed their daughter, Marlowe, this summer.

The painting, which features the completely naked actress exposing her baby bump, is set to be shown at the painter’s “(I’ve Got You) Under My Skin” exhibition in Berlin.

Yeo said the portrait “epitomized the human body in its most naturally beautiful state.”

He added, “It’s been 22 years since a pregnant Demi Moore caused uproar by posing for Annie Leibovitz on the cover of Vanity Fair.”

“In that time society has become almost completely desensitized to the daily exposure to people who have surgically distorted their appearance for artificial reasons,” said Yeo.

He continued, “Yet certain sections of society are still uncomfortable with the appearance of pregnancy and images of naked expectant mothers are rarely seen.”

Yeo went on to note, “The power of the painting partly lies in the fact that Sienna is widely regarded as being one of the most naturally beautiful actresses in the world as well as being a fashion icon to a generation of girls,” explaining, “It is a tribute to her courage and self-confidence that she agreed to sit for this. I can think of many figures whose public currency in part revolves around their appearance, who would prefer to hide themselves away for nine months.”

The artist also painted Miller in 2010.

    Actually it is a beautiful painting. I had my babies in the late seventies, 77’78′ and 79′ and the only thing available were those tent style smocks that usually tied in the back. It was like it was supposed to be hidden. A not so little secret.

    I understand that pregnant women are beautiful but I just don’t understand the celebrity trend of naked pregnant images.

    Well if that does happen Kristen wont do this. For all her tough talk about not being a prude that seems to be reserved for her ” movie characters” otherwise we would have seen 80 something pics of her coming up from the pool naked or at minimum her thong without the little white shorts. On the other hand, I love this portrait.

    The point of all this is that it’s viewed as a “trend”, instead of something natural. Obviously, people are still shocked by something that should be as normal and natural as flowers on a hill. Photographs and art of people nude in everyday life, and especially during the miracle of birth, should be common and welcome, not hidden and titillating.
