Shia LaBeouf Arrested In Austin
Shia LaBeouf was arrested in Austin on Friday, Gossip Cop confirms.
Lieutenant Moon of the Austin Police Department tells Gossip Cop that LaBeouf was taken into custody after “walking in the roadway and obstructing traffic” on 6th Street, which is in the bar district. He’s being held on a public intoxication charge, which is a class c misdemeanor. LaBeouf will remain behind bars until he is “sober enough to leave on his own,” we’re told, though there is a minimum four-hour hold policy.
Once LaBeouf is deemed suitable to be released, he will meet with a magistrate, who will determine whether he can go on his own recognizance, or if he will have to pay a bond. A photo has surfaced showing a police officer cuffing the actor on a sidewalk as several more cops stand nearby (see below). LaBeouf is reportedly in Texas for the Austin City Limits festival, but was not near the park where the event is being held.
LaBeouf was previously arrested in New York last year after interrupting a Broadway performance of Cabaret. He later pleaded guilty to disorderly conducted and was ordered to complete out-patient rehab for alcohol addiction. It was promised that the arrest would be erased from his record if he stayed out of trouble for the following six months. This new arrest comes more than a year after that order. Gossip Cop has reached out to LaBeouf’s rep for comment. We’ll have updates.
