Shia LaBeouf: I Dropped Acid for New Role

Truth rating: 10

Shia LaBeouf will apparently do (almost) anything for his craft.

The actor, who is set to have actual on-screen sex for an upcoming project, says in a new interview that he took acid for his role in The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman.

“There’s a way to do an acid trip like Harold & Kumar, and there’s a way to be on acid,” LaBeouf tells USA Today.

He explains, “What I know of acting, Sean Penn actually strapped up to that (electric) chair in Dead Man Walking. These are the guys that I look up to.”

Because his Charlie Countryman character is on acid, LaBeouf actually tripped on the drug, too.

“Sometimes, it does get real,” the actor says of his day spent high during production. “Too real for a (director) who’s trying to keep a diplomatic set.”

But LaBeouf concedes that he has boundaries when it comes to immersing himself in a role that requires sex, drugs or otherwise.

“There are rules,” he admits. “I have ethics, I’m not completely out of my mind.”

Dear Shia, It’s called ACTING because you pretend to do it and convince people it’s real. If you are really doing it, it isn’t called acting it’s called doing drugs and filming it. Learn to act and stop doing drugs and having sex on film so you can pretend you can act.K? Thanks! Bye now.

To each their own…doesn’t matter to me one way or the other, as long as the movie is good.

So does this mean Shia will actually commit murder if he plays a murderer in a film? I think that boy’s cheese has done slid off his cracker…

  • Bcournoyer

So I guess it’s now legal to drugs as long as its on film? Sounds like a stupid way to boost ticket sales if you ask me

Shia should quit while he is ahead. The more he talks the more pathetic he gets, He has morals and boundaries? Well it sure doesn’t seem like it. Most people in this world have tried some sort of drug, it really doesn’t make you special but Shia seems to think if he boasts about it people will think he is a really cool dude, who is such a great actor. All I see is a loser who feels he needs attention. A bit like a kid at school who thinks he is popular and cool because they drink and smoke. Grow up Shia, maybe if you concentrate on the art of acting and stop trying to be so cool and scandalous, people will actually believe you are worth sitting in a cinema for two hours for..

You’re comparing LSD to murder… It’s a shame that people don’t realize LSD can actually be a therapeutic and life changing experience because there are so many false rumors about the chemical and so many people abuse it which gives it a bad name.

oh stop it. Im not comparing anything! He drops real acid for a role, he has real sex for a role so if he plays a murderer one of these days it’s logical to question if he’ll want to kill someone for the role. Perhaps you’re too high to understand lol

I hope he doesn’t get a role as a mass murderer.

Oh geez… another “LOOK AT ME” comment.

oh i understand you though. i mean LSD shouldn’t be consumed for the sole purpose of a role in a movie; it’s a drug meant for finding yourself. i just feel like a lot of people who have no experience with actual LSD talk a lot of shit about it without knowing its real effects. but i get what you’re saying though you shouldn’t have to live the life of your character in reality in order to play them in a film. especially if you’re dealing with something as powerful as LSD. but also it is shia labeouf after all and we all know that he’s kind of a fuck up. but what can you do, eh? Not excusing him in anyway, just saying that some people are gonna do things like this and you can’t always stop them. I apologize if you thought my first comment was rude but i respect your opinion. have a nice day :)
