Sherri Shepherd Returns To The View For First Time Since Leaving Show (VIDEO)
Sherri Shepherd returned to “The View” on Thursday’s episode for the first time since leaving the show last year. Watch below!
As Gossip Cop reported, Shepherd unexpectedly revealed she was exiting last June, the same day close friend and colleague Jenny McCarthy was fired. Shepherd’s departure was attributed to both failed negotiations for a new contract, with the two sides unable to agree on financial terms, and producers wanting to take the ABC morning show in a new direction. Shepherd and McCarthy’s final episode aired in August, after which it was announced Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace would be their replacements, alongside Whoopi Goldberg and returning co-host Rosie O’Donnell.
Of course, O’Donnell has since left “The View” again. But while former host Joy Behar has made multiple guest appearances as a fill-in, and Jenny McCarthy recently claimed she was asked back, Shepherd seemed out of the mix. That is until this week, when the comedienne was greeted with a standing ovation.
Joined by Wallace, and guest co-hosts Raven Symone and Paula Faris, it was like Shepherd never left. The star naturally told a funny story about her son Jeffrey, and even admitted she’s been doing his homework for him. She also made pointed quips about the drama that’s been occupying her life since she left the chatfest.
As Gossip Cop has reported, Shepherd has been in a custody battle with estranged husband Lamar over a baby born via surrogate. A judge recently ruled that the actress is responsible for child support, even though her attorney argued she was tricked into the situation. On “The View,” when Symone commented that she’s wanted kids since she was 15, Shepherd cracked, “I got one or two you can have of mine! I’ll give them to you!”
Then, during a Hot Topic about best friends, Shepherd said, “If I listened to my best friends, I wouldn’t have a million attorneys in my life right now.” She went on to say, “You know what Barbara Walters told my boyfriend? ‘If you hurt Sherri Shepherd, I’ll kill you.'” And Shepherd, explaining how her friends “welcomed [her] back with open arms” after her split with Sally, further revealed, “Nobody ever said ‘I told you so.’ Especially Whoopi Goldberg. She came to my room every day and was like, ‘Here’s the red flags.’ She got my back.”
Since leaving “The View,” Shepherd has appeared on two rival shows, “The Talk” and “The Real.” Her return to “The View” was pre-taped earlier this month (see below). Check out the video below of Shepherd back on “The View,” and tell us what you think.
