Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne’s split is NOT a “publicity stunt,” despite ridiculous report. Gossip Cop can bust the claim.
As Gossip Cop has reported, the Osbournes separated last week after 33 years of marriage. While neither star has directly commented on the rumors, unconfirmed reports blame Ozzy’s alleged infidelity for the breakup. But now the New York Post is claiming it could all be a “publicity stunt.”
The paper writes that on Thursday the Osbournes were “spotted together for the first time since his cheating allegations — sparking industry rumors that the affair was a publicity stunt.” As evidence of it all being a “stunt,” the tabloid notes, “Ozzy and Sharon were seen arriving together in the same SUV at the Hollywood Palladium for a music event.” But the notion that the estranged spouses, who are manager and client, traveling in the same car for a business appearance means it’s all a charade is both ridiculous and bizarre.
Still, the New York Post goes on, “Insiders whisper that it could have been cooked up by Sharon — inspired by Beyoncé‘s Lemonade, which hinted at marriage drama with Jay Z — to drum up more interest in Ozzy’s Black Sabbath tour.” A so-called “source” is quoted as saying, “Sharon is the queen of publicity stunts, there’s always deliberate drama going on, it maintains interest in them as a family.”
“She’s a very smart woman, it would be very hard for Ozzy to carry on an affair under her nose without her knowing about it,” continues the alleged tipster. “If it is a stunt, it has got him almost as much press as when he bit that bat’s head off.”
Please. Sharon and Ozzy are not Beyonce and Jay Z. The former being embroiled in a cheating scandal will not boost Black Sabbath ticket sales, as the band’s concerts have nothing to do with the Osbournes’ personal life. Beyonce’s personal life, though, often bleeds into her music and her shows, and yes, it draws attention to her performances.
But the Osbournes fake-splitting to “drum up interest” in a Black Sabbath tour? That doesn’t make much sense. Obviously, after Ozzy “bit that bat,” fans wanted to see what he would do next on the stage. But this is hardly the same situation.
The Osbournes may very well continue working together, and Sharon made clear on “The Talk” this week that their current crisis may not end in divorce. But none of that means it’s all a manufactured “publicity stunt.”
