Sharna Burgess Out Of “Dancing With The Stars” With Knee Injury
Sharna Burgess will likely sit out of Monday’s “Dancing with the Stars” due to an ongoing knee injury. It’s unclear if James Hinchcliffe will lose his partner for the rest of the season.
Before last week’s “DWTS,” Burgess fell on her knee during dress rehearsal (see video below), and wore a knee brace during last Monday’s broadcast. She told People afterward, “When I fell, it was pure panic. I’ve had an ACL reconstruction on that very same knee, so I was scared to death. In that split moment, you think 1,000 things, but I got up and tried to figure it out.”
At the time, she said there was “no tear” or “major swelling,” but also said eliminated pro Jenna Johnson would join rehearsals in case she couldn’t continue. Now, unfortunately, that seems to be the case. According to TMZ, Johnson has been advised to rest her knee for four to six weeks.
Unfortunately for Hinchcliffe, there’s less than four weeks left in the ABC competition. He and Burgess have been considered among this season’s frontrunners, and Hinchcliffe’s jitterbug earned the highest score on “Eras Night,” despite Burgess being unable to go full-throttle. Meanwhile, Johnson, a “So You Think You Can Dance” alum, was the first eliminated with Jake T. Austin shortly after the season began last month.
Gossip Cop has reached out for more information. We’ll have full coverage of “DWTS” tonight, as always.
