Seth MacFarlane 2013 Oscars Opening Monologue – Watch Video Here!

OSCARS VIDEO

(ABC)

Seth MacFarlane opened the 2013 Oscars with monologue jokes and a long routine featuring, of all people, Captain Kirk.

The first-time host began with more traditional jokes poking fun at himself, Ben Affleck, Tommy Lee Jones, Chris Brown and Rihanna, Mel Gibson, and other celebs.

Then a monitor featuring William Shatner as “Kirk” appeared, with the futuristic Star Trek character warning MacFarlane that his hosting job received poor reviews — and giving him advice on how to save the show.

What followed included a musical number called “We Saw Your Boobs,” a sock-puppet reenactment of the movie FlightCharlize Theron and Channing Tatum dancing together. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Daniel Radcliffe singing together, and MacFarlane hitting on Sally Field backstage.

It was definitely not your traditional Oscars opening.

What do you think of it?

    @Seth MacFarlane -

    How
dare you make a joke about domestic violence. That’s insensitive to the many
who endure the pain of such experiences. You should apologize.

    ###

That incident with Chris and Rihanna happened four years ago. You are trespassing where you have NO legitimate business.

Obviously, you didn’t have good quality material to deliver so you resorted to cruel
    insensitive expressions…

  • MissZee

he’s not the first nor will he be the last to make jokes about domestic violence.

  • realityknocking

Wow….. I guess all one billion viewers forgot that it was ALL ABOUT YOU!!!! Lighten up, Ms. Frigid! Some of us who have fallen victim actually have our sense of humor still in tact. Go to therapy immediately!

  • 55vineyard

Only watched the first 5 minutes, very boring, sorry Seth (not sure who he is, but the Academy needs to get a clue about catering to younger voters, big fail).
Anyone remember 2 years ago with those two losers, James Franco and Anne Hathaway?
    Worst Oscar ever.

  • Geno

Get a sense of humor Sandra. Pluh-ease!!!

  • Benji

Catering to younger viewers??!?! Is that a serious statement? Seth MacFarlane was the perfect choice to cater to younger people. He’s the creator of Family Guy and American Dad, he was the director of Ted, and he’s an amazing voice actor and singer. He’s the only reason I watched the Oscars this year!

Wow! Get a sense of humor much? Your husband should slap one into you..

  • MDS

    good one

  • Real Life

Oh look another libertarian who’s asshole is so clinched you can feel it’s density approaching the mass of a collapsing star…. Probably falls into the same category of the “I AM A STRONG INDEPENDENT WOMEN!! BUT DON’T YOU DARE HIT ME!!”

  • CCryder66

So you want to see Justin Bieber host it?

  • ILUVUSA2

Classless, tasteless, indiscrete, inappropriate, in other words, typical Hollywood.

  • jamdeee

funny funny everyone wants to find a victim, blacks, violence toward women, jews, gays, irish, italians, greeks we are all victims now shut up and laugh

  • Amy

He was terrific-the whole thing was very clever-hollywood takes itself way too seriously.

  • Annie

I thought he was terrific as well! I knew who Seth McFarlane was but I don’t think I had ever seen him. Who knew he was handsome? And his singing and dancing blew me away! A man of many talents obviously. I thought he was funny and certainly not as “tasteless” and “mean” as Ricky Gervais hosting the Golden Globes. He did well as a first timer!

  • Guest

The entertainment portion was first class! And I loved all the music! Adele, you are amazing!

  • Guest

I could care less if he caters to younger viewers, he was still a mediocre host

  • Guest Account

    The entire show was mediocre

  • david

lol yeah.. when he means young viewers .. he means like 3 and 4 years old..
    Oscars for stupid annoying kids..

  • MattVC

This was the first time I ever found the Oscars to be entertaining. Excellent job Seth!
