Selena Gomez addresses rumors and misconceptions in her new InStyle UK cover story.

The singer-actress is the star of the magazine’s January 2016 issue, and candidly opens up about how she’s perceived by the media and the public. With best friend Taylor Swift, for instance, Gomez says, “People have this fantasy that we’re in our underwear, having pillow fights.” And in reality?

“We just play good music — sometimes live — and eat, and hang out,” she says. Naturally, guys are often a topic of conversation. That includes helping each other with their respective love lives. Gomez shares, “I’ll be like, ‘I think I totally screwed up,’ but Taylor says, ‘Actually, you didn’t’ and shows me how to make my mistakes into something great.”

Gomez is currently single, and admits to hating dating. “It’s hard and I’m weirded out by the idea that a guy has googled me before we meet, and that has happened,” she confesses. She gives a playful answer, however, when asked about gossip linking her to Zayn Malik. “If he had asked me out on a date, I would be seen with him. Just kidding, but not kidding,” she says with what the magazine calls a “sly smile.”

Another issue: “I feel like I look 16 sometimes, which is a bummer because I would love to date older guys,” Gomez tells the outlet. And while her future with Justin Bieber seems unclear, she expresses exhaustion over the subject. “It’s really hard because I’m a nice person,” explains Gomez. “I’m just tired of talking about it. I never intended for my life to become a tabloid story.”

The full interview will hit newsstands on December 3. Gossip Cop suggests picking up the InStyle UK issue if you want to learn more about Gomez, instead of reading those aforementioned tabloid stories.
