Selena Gomez is not going “back to rehab,” despite a report falsely claiming she’s in a “downward spiral.” Gossip Cop can debunk the story, which comes from one of the tabloids.

It’s alleged in the pages of this week’s In Touch, “After weeks of emotional drama, a public feud with ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber and a significant increase in her partying, Selena’s loved ones fear she’s trapped in yet another downward spiral.” A so-called “friend” is quoted as saying, “Half of the time Selena says she is sick, she’s really just hungover and keeps partying anyway. She’s been showing a lot of signs that worry her friends who have seen this behavior before.”

“First she gets depressed, then has massive anxiety, then starts drinking and partying way too hard, then goes into denial and finally has a breakdown,” continues the supposed source. “Everyone fears that if she doesn’t slow down, she’ll end up back in rehab… The scariest part is that she’s drinking and partying 10 times harder than ever before and her health is horrible.”

No, what’s scary is that In Touch thinks it’s okay to make such serious allegations. No real “friend” of Gomez, particularly one so concerned about her well-being, would be talking to the tabloids. Furthermore, the outlet’s sister publication, Life & Style, falsely claimed twice last year that Gomez was being urged to enter rehab for alcohol issues.

The magazine even tried peddling similar Gomez “downward spiral” claims just last week. But it wasn’t true then, and it’s not true now. Gomez suffers from Lupus, and she’s going to be sick from time to time. She is also in a growing stage of her career, and hasn’t been shy about opening up about the emotions involved with that. But there’s no new “downward spiral” here like the one described by In Touch.
