Selena Gomez Rates Her 2015 An Eight: “A Lot Of Ups And Downs”
On a scale of one to 10, Selena Gomez says she would rate her 2015 an eight.
But it’s a “good” eight, she tells Billboard in a new interview. “A lot of ups and downs, but they helped shape who I am.” Surely one of those “ups” is being among the magazine’s Women of the Year honorees.
As for those “downs,” one would be Gomez’s ongoing battle with Lupus. The former child star only confirmed the illness in her Billboard cover story in October, revealing she underwent chemotherapy. She now tells the outlet, “It has been overwhelming and the response has been very supportive, which is nice — but it still makes me a little uncomfortable.”
“I waited for the right time to talk about it because I am in a great place and I’m very healthy,” she insists. “I’m not trying to be loud about it. It was time to use my platform to help.”
Gomez’s platform will grow in 2016 as she sets out on a world tour. But despite her growing success, the brunette beauty says, “I still feel like I’m the girl from Texas. My mom would still be mad if I didn’t say ‘please’ and ‘thank you.'”
Gomez will be honored next week with the Chart-Topper Award at the Billboard Women of the Year ceremony. TELL US: What do you think of Gomez’s take her on year?
