Selena Gomez And Charlie Puth NOT “Hooking Up,” Despite Report
Selena Gomez and Charlie Puth are NOT “hooking up,” despite a report wrongly labeling them “friends with benefits.” Gossip Cop can correct this story. Gomez and Puth are indeed friends… but nothing more.
The misinformation comes from Us Weekly, which published the claims both online and in its new print issue, which came out on Wednesday. The magazine claims Gomez and Puth are doing more than “hanging out,” and are “hooking up” before they go on tour together. “It’s not serious, but she’s super into him,” a so-called “source” is quoted as saying.
But aside from mentioning their recent collaboration and upcoming concerts for Gomez’s “Revival” tour, the tabloid has absolutely no information to back up its claim. In fact, even though the online version promises “details on their romance,” there’s nothing said about how it supposedly began, when Gomez or Puth are getting together, or whether they plan to take their dalliances on the road. Not to mention that Us Weekly is the same outlet that falsely claimed Gomez was hooking up with Ed Sheeran in 2013 and wrongly alleged she was dating Austin Mahone in 2014.
Just like in those cases, there’s no “romance” going on here. Gomez and Puth themselves said last September that they’re only friends. Gossip Cop is told nothing’s changed.
