Selena Gomez NOT “Back To Partying,” Despite Report
Selena Gomez is NOT “back to partying,” nor is there concern she’s “facing trouble again,” despite a sensational report. Gossip Cop can set the record straight.
“Back To Partying? Selena Gomez May Be Facing Trouble Again Just Weeks After Rehab,” reads a headline on the Star website, where it’s asked, “Is the singer still struggling to get well?” The accompanying story similarly says, “Selena Gomez may have thought she was ready to bounce back into the spotlight after rehab, but was it too soon?”
The tabloid goes on to write, “As Star reported, Selena made her major comeback at the 2016 American Music Awards on Nov. 21 since checking into rehab in September to battle depression and other emotional issues. But since her big return, the 24-year-old singer is acting like she’s struggling again with all the attention.”
Readers are then urged to “watch the video above as the ‘Good For You’ singer leaves Catch restaurant in L.A. on Dec. 3 looking sad.” But all the footage shows is Gomez with her head slightly bowed as she and a group of friends exit the establishment and make their way into a waiting car. All the while, paparazzi flash their cameras and yell comments.
There is nothing that indicates Gomez is “back to partying,” “facing trouble again,” or “struggling to get well.” And going out to eat at a popular restaurant hardly qualifies as “partying.” This also isn’t the first time Star has tried to sensationalize rather innocent paparazzi footage of the singer-actress.
Almost exactly a week ago, the dubious outlet ran a similar story with the headline, “Is She OK? Dismal Selena Gomez Still Struggling To Get Well Following Rehab.” But the publication had no proof; there was only a video of Gomez being followed as photographers “swarmed her with questions about her rehab stay” while she made her way out of LAX.
These aren’t smoking guns. They are manipulations of non-events, twisted into false claims about Gomez’s health and personal life. It is shameful and inaccurate.
