Selena Gomez Turning “Against” Taylor Swift Claim NOT True
The new issue of In Touch hit newsstands on Wednesday with a cover that calls Swift a “liar.” Naturally, the bulk of the story is about the singer’s reheated feud with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. The magazine also babbles on about Swift’s past with frenemies Katy Perry, Demi Lovato, John Mayer, and most recently, Calvin Harris.
But the article also takes things a bit further, and wrongly so. The piece is headlined “Stars Against Taylor,” and asserts, “#SquadRevolt! Taylor Swift’s perfect image crumbles as enemies, exes and even her A-list friends reveal the truth about her secrets and lies.” A so-called “insider” is quoted as saying, “Some in her squad are talking about how relieved they are that the real Taylor is being exposed.”
And yet, the only “squad” member and “BFF” mentioned is Gomez. While In Touch acknowledges that she “publicly defended” Swift on Twitter, it’s alleged that “privately, their relationship remains hot and cold as she tries to work through her own issues with her.” A supposed “source” claims, “Selena recently found out some pretty horrible stuff Taylor has said about her, including about her weight and choice of boyfriends.”
But if In Touch is going to call anyone a “liar,” the tabloid might want to take a look at itself. Nearly two years before this cruel piece, In Touch ran a “drug overdose” cover about Gomez. Last year, the magazine falsely said Gomez and Swift were going to remake “Laverne & Shirley.” And the outlet also claimed, now even more embarrassingly, that Swift and Harris were having “two weddings.”
It’s pretty rich to do a whole cover story about Swift allegedly lying and being manipulative when the publication is guilty of that on a weekly basis. As for these claims that a feud is now brewing between Gomez and Swift behind closed doors, it’s just not true. And, again, while the magazine touts a “#SquadRevolt” from “A-list friends,” Gomez is the only one mentioned… and not even accurately.
