Selected Of God “America’s Got Talent” Video: Choir Gets Standing Ovation For Destiny’s Child’s “Survivor” — WATCH!
Selected of God, a Detroit-based choir, proved they’re made up of a group of survivors on Tuesday’s “America’s Got Talent.” Watch below!
The group was founded by a husband and wife duo, who combine a Christian spirit with contemporary gospel. Leader Larry Callahan admitted before taking the stage, “I don’t have a Plan B. A just is what it is.” And their performance proved he and his colleagues were hanging on for a reason.
Selected of God performed an inspired cover of the Destiny’s Child hit “Survivor,” and even went a capella toward the end. They received a standing ovation from the entire panel, including guest judge Michael Buble. He told the choir afterward, “I need to find a reason, any excuse, to work with you, because that was beautiful… I’m in love with you.”
Howard Stern gushed, “I want to tell you that what you did today was taken an act that was very good and made it great. This was truly exciting and different. Well done.” He further said, “This truly was a case where they stepped it up,” while Heidi Klum noted, “When they started singing together, my hair stood up.”
Howie Mandel offered compliments, along with a warning. “It was powerful. It was moving. It was amazing. But there’s only six spots. I hope it works out for you,” he said. Of course, Selected of God had nothing to worry about. At the end of the show, the choir was told they made it to the next round for the live shows at Radio City Music Hall.
