Sean Penn Sentenced To Anger Management
3:01 pm, May 12th, 2010
NewsSean Penn pleaded no contest today to one count of vandalism, stemming from an altercation with a paparazzo in October.
Penn, who was videotaped approaching and kicking the pap in Brentwood, California, was given 36 months of probation. He was also sentenced to 36 hours of anger management and will have to complete 300 hours of community service, which can be satisfied through his relief work in Haiti.
Additionally, Penn must stay at least 100 yards from the victim, Jordan Dawes, and could have to pay Dawes restitution pending a hearing set for July.
He also faces a civil suit filed by Dawes.
If Penn satisfactorily completes his sentence, his vandalism conviction will be changed to a disturbing the peace conviction, a lesser charge.
A second charge of battery was dropped. Penn faced up to one and a half years of incarceration had he been convicted on both charges.
