Scott Eastwood On ‘Fast 8’ Role: “I’m Going To Make Paul Walker Proud”
Scott Eastwood has been cast in the next Fast & Furious movie, and is hoping to “make Paul Walker proud.” Following the official announcement of his casting on Monday, the actor openly expressed gratitude for his Fast 8 role and mentioned his late friend.
After the news of his casting broke, Eastwood wrote on Instagram, “It’s hard to put into words how excited I am for the next Fast & Furious. To me, the series is so much more than just a franchise. It’s a legacy. These great actors who have been in it together for so long have become a family. I absolutely can’t wait to join it. ”
The actor further noted that he and the late Walker were close friends, writing, “We surfed together, traveled together, and he was a huge role model and influencing figure in my life when I was younger. He still is. He was an older brother to me.” Eastwood then personally thanked new co-star Vin Diesel for his “support and insight,” and concluded, “Paul – I am going to make you proud.”
There have been very few details revealed about Eastwood’s role in the sequel, but he’s said to be playing a protege of Kurt Russell’s character, a secret government agent. It was also announced last week that Charlize Theron would be joining the franchise as a new villain. Fast 8 hits theaters on April 14, 2017.
