Scarlett Johansson: “There Is Nothing Strange Or Creepy About John Travolta”
Scarlett Johansson and John Travolta’s seemingly awkward red carpet kiss at Sunday’s Oscars was anything but, according to the actress. She’s now blasting those reporting that, saying there was nothing “strange” or “creepy” at all about it. See photo (at right) and video of the kiss below.
Before the Academy Awards, Johansson was posing for the cameras on the red carpet when Travolta gave her a quick peck on the cheek as he walked past her. The picture capturing Johansson’s in-the-moment surprise went viral, with some even turning it into a meme poking fun at Travolta. On Thursday, however, Johansson released a statement slamming the negative interpretation.
“The image that is circulating is an unfortunate still-frame from a live-action encounter that was very sweet and totally welcome,” Johansson says in a statement to the Associated Press. She continues, “That still photo does not reflect what preceded and followed if you see the moment live. Yet another way we are misguided, misinformed and sensationalized by the 24-hour news cycle. I haven’t seen John in some years and it is always a pleasure to be greeted by him.” Indeed, the clip of their meeting shows Johansson reacting happily.
Johansson further says, “There is nothing strange, creepy or inappropriate about John Travolta.” She and the actor worked together on the 2004 movie, A Love Song for Bobby Long. Check out the video below of Travolta kissing Johansson on the red carpet, and tell us what you think.
