Savannah Guthrie Co-Anchoring Today

Savannah Guthrie is set to take over Ann Curry‘s spot as co-anchor of the “Today” show on Friday.

Guthrie, who is currently the co-host of the show’s third hour alongside Al Roker and Natalie Morales, was widely speculated to be Curry’s replacement.

Though no mention of the new line-up was made during Curry’s emotional departure on Thursday, Guthrie will be seated with Matt Lauer and the rest of the team on Friday.

It’s unclear whether an announcement will be made on Friday or if the network will have Guthrie co-anchor for a while — and then make it “official” a little further down the road.

    While Ms. Guthrie may be a talented lawyer…she does not fit in visually with the short buffos of the team(AL&Matt)…have you ever seen them standing outside together….It is not a pretty sight.I think she is going to feel the strong rebuke of the viewing public for the way NBC handled this ANN Curry debacle….and the TODAY show ratings will tank further….. and she will be the next scapegoat…hopefully she has a good contract….but I am never going to watch TODAY or any other NBC show in the future…first, David Letterman with the Tonight Show, then Conan with the Tonight Show and now Ann Curry and the Today Show …3 strikes and you are out!!!!

    I don’t really know her. I don’t get to the third hour, so I don’t have an opinion of her. However, because of the trashy way they handled the Curry situation, I agree that she may suffer the backlash because of that. NBC should have waited a bit and had guest hosts, instead of basically throwing her to the sharks.

    But she is an adult and hopefully is going in with her eyes open. Me, not going to watch.

    especially horrible outside on the Plaza and Al’s jokes are about as dated as my high school prom dress is! And NBC should be graded in the F category due to the fact that Ann’s seat on the couch was still warm when Savannah Gutrie plopped down on it….You blew it execs — are you that concerned about competition that you don’t stop and consider sensitivity? So long Today Show!

    If Curry had stayed at the newsdesk, she’d still be there, and doing a few features, too. Clearly, Laurer didn’t like her muscling in on the couch and called the shots, forcing NBC to handle this poorly. Not a Curry fan, especially, but she got hosed.

    I will also be dropping all NBC’s news shows, especilly the today show. As of this morning, it’s GMA for me! I intend to talk my friends to switch toGMA! !!!!!!!!!!

    Matt Lauer should be ashamed of the way he pushed Ann Curry out. Ann Curry was the best one on the Today Show. Now NBC has Matt Lauer is covering stories on Nightly News and Rock Center with Brian Williams. He pails sickening, heartless. We love Brian Williams but because of Matt’s dispickable behavior, we are no longer viewers. NBC’s ship has officially sank thanks to Matt Lauer. Anyway you look at it, Ann Curry got s——d!!! She is beautiful inside and out. As of Thursday, there is life beyond NBC. It’s incomprehensible the executives think he is worth 25-27 million a year and demand Ann Curry be fired. I hope he gets his own justice with plenty of cruelty that he so infringes on others.VIEWERS TRY OTHER NETWORKS, YOU MAY ALSO REALIZE THERE IS BEYOND ALL NBC!!!
