Savannah Guthrie Confirmed As New Today Show Co-Host

Savannah Guthrie will officially replace Ann Curry as “Today” show co-host.

NBC News president Steve Capus announced the news in a press release on Friday, saying, “In just a few short years Savannah has become a standout member of the news division as well as the ultimate team player.”

Guthrie will officially debut as the show’s new co-anchor on Monday, July 9.

Guthrie was previously the co-host of the show’s third hour alongside Al Roker and Natalie Morales.

Curry confirmed she was departing the show after one year as co-anchor in an emotional announcement on Thursday.

Guthrie filled Curry’s vacated seat alongside Matt Lauer on Friday’s broadcast.

    No. I don’t think she’s a good fit. Perhaps if Ann had resigned voluntarily — to go to another job because she WANTED to — I might feel differently. That was not the case here. Also, they selected a co-worker. If they’d brought someone in from the outside it also might feel different but it doesn’t. It just looks bad on NBC.

    I like Ann Currie for her warmth and her professionalism and I never liked matt lauer. I hope savannah guthrie chews up and spits out lauer. he deserves it and more.

    I have watched the Today show every morning before going to work for over 35 years. Guess what, I now will be switching to GMA! What you did to Ann Curry was horrible and inexcusable. I intend to ask my friends to switch to GMA as well?

    NBC, you have a track record of being loyal to the wrong “employees”! Lauer has always been the “weakest link in your chain”. Katie, Meredith and Ann Curry were all better at their jobs than Matt. His performance and ego can’t cash the check he writes. On Matt BALD isn’t beautiful either. Ann Curry has never been anything but professional, courageous, sincere and has more class in her pinky than anyone else left on that show. Let that whiny _ _ _ _ _ Matt Lauer go or get him a weaker male counterpart, if you can find one.

I dont know why this stupid network decided to aim low and make this nobody a somebody. Ann Curry you should’ve cussed those jackasses out and moved to Good Morning America. Piss poor move NBC.     Your absolutely right. NBC puts this Guuthrie digbat up as an expert on every program they have. You can make a drinking game out of her rapid fire appearances on Today Show, Nightly News, MSNBC, ETC. I usually change the channel or fast forward my DVR when this Amazonian bubble-head pops up. Now that she’s slept her way into Ann Curry’s seat, I’ve gone over to GMA. Firing Curry for editing 911 calls, putting the Dugger spawn on for a week straight, and giving race baiting Star Jones and Donny Douchbag a segment that props them up as ‘professionals’ should have cost Lauren, Bell, and Capus their jobs. I’m betting that NBC falls behind ABC & CBS before years end.
