Savannah Guthrie: “I Felt Bad” For Kate Gosselin’s Twin Girls During Interview

Truth rating: 10

Savannah Guthrie says she “felt bad” for Kate Gosselin’s twin girls Mady and Cara during their infamously awkward “Today Show” interview last week.

On Thursday’s “Watch What Happens Live!” Guthrie, appearing with co-anchor Matt Lauer, told a caller that she was “really surprised” by the teenagers’ refusal to speak during the appearance.

“They came on, and I thought the girls had something on their minds — they wanted to get it off their chests,” she explained.

But that’s not what happened, and the results led to a firestorm.

Guthrie said, “I kind of was sympathetic to them. It’s not easy to get on national television… They’re 13-year-old girls, so I felt bad for them.”
