Sarah Palin Endorses Donald Trump For President
In a statement released by Trump’s campaign, Palin said, “I’m proud to endorse Donald J. Trump for president.” In response, the GOP frontrunner responded, “I am greatly honored to receive Sarah’s endorsement. She is a friend, and a high-quality person whom I have great respect for. I am proud to have her support.”
Palin is slated to join Trump on Tuesday afternoon at a rally at Iowa State University, where she will announce her endorsement publicly for the first time. Trump teased the appearance on Facebook on Monday, writing, “I will have a major announcement and a very special guest in attendance. You will not want to miss this rally!”
When rumors first emerged that Palin would be throwing her support behind Trump, staffers from Ted Cruz’s office insinuated that the former governor would damage her reputation by endorsing Trump. Shortly afterwards, Bristol Palin wrote a blog post in defense of her mom, stating, “After hearing what Cruz is now saying about my mom, in a negative knee-jerk reaction, makes me hope my mom does endorse Trump.” Palin herself later tweeted a link to her daughter’s blog post.
