CLAIM: Sarah Jessica Parker “Escapes Her Kids” with New Apartment

“SJP Escapes Her Kids,” reads the headline of an In Touch item that claims Sarah Jessica Parker “just got her own apartment in New York City, blocks away from the townhouse she shares with hubby Matthew Broderick and their kids.”

According to a so-called “insider,” the actress “got herself an apartment that’s just for her. She met with the co-op board and said she needed a place to work in peace.”

So is the Sex and the City star really fleeing her family?

Uh, no.

A source close to Parker tells Gossip Cop she’s (1) had that apartment for years; (2) it’s a studio she uses when she needs to get ready for events or up early, so that she doesn’t disrupt her family household; (3) it’s a rental, not a co-op; (4) it has a doorman, unlike her other home, so that she can accept packages; (5) it’s not even in the building pictured in In Touch‘s item.

In other words, Parker and Broderick do happen to have a second place – but In Touch gets every detail wrong and then incorrectly concludes Parker has some scandalous new escape pod.

Oops.

    I sit here and read all these crazy stories about famous celebs and just shake my head, these rag mags just make up one story after another about celebs and their families and don’t care of how they may be hurting them and their familes. Where do they get the right to do this. I for one no longer buy their mags and refuse to read anything they write about. I wish that they cld for just one day see the damage they do and maybe, if they have a conscience, they wld stop writing these lies.

    Thank you again for your honest journalism. The media seems to get some sick pleasure from slandering celebrities. The Brodericks seem to be as normal as any celeb family but they get nothing but gossip and lies thrown at them. I guess its impossible to think that intelligent people with their priorities in order can be normal.
