Sandra Lee Successfully Undergoes Double Mastectomy Following Breast Cancer Diagnosis
Sandra Lee successfully underwent a double mastectomy on Tuesday, after revealing last week that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. The celebrity chef and longtime partner of New York’s Governor Andrew Cuomo, announced on Facebook late Monday night that she was prepping for her operation and would have her team provide updates.
Early Tuesday morning, Lee’s team posted on Facebook that the chef was brought to the hospital around 4 a.m. and Governor Cuomo and her sister Kimberly were right by her side the entire time. A later update brought the good news: Lee’s team said the operation was a success, and that the Food Network star was “still a little groggy, but grateful the surgery is complete.”
As Gossip Cop reported, Lee announced on “Good Morning America” that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer in April following a routine mammogram. Lee was supposed to undergo her double mastectomy a week ago, but had it postponed because she came down with a respiratory infection.
