Sandra Bullock and Scarlett Johansson Keep Their “Distance” at Oscars?

“Sandra and Scarlett Keep Their Distance at the Oscars,” reads the headline of a PopEater piece about Sandra Bullock and Scarlett Johansson that’s quite a distance from accurate.

Preferring to shun fact for friction, the piece claims, “The rift between once-good friends Sandra Bullock and Scarlett Johansson still appears to be going strong, with both ladies avoiding each other like the plague at the Academy Awards on Sunday.”

A so-called “insider” further tells PopEater, “They both knew the other was presenting so it was no surprise that they would be at the same event, but they sure managed to keep away from one another.”

Uh, huh…

PopEater explains, “Any tension between the two ladies comes from the fact that since Scarlett and her husband Ryan Reynolds filed for divorce in December, Sandra has been seen multiple times with the actor.”

Adds the site, “Scarlett showed up at the Oscars with her agent, Joe Machota, by her side, while Sandra, wearing blazing red, looked happy working the carpet all by herself.”

Oh, where do we start?

Actually, PopEater’s “insider” must be a complete outsider, because Bullock was on the red carpet was with her high-powered publicist and agent, not “all by herself.”

Also, there is NOTHING going on between Bullock and Reynolds.

And, as for the larger point about the “avoiding each other like the plague,” it’s totally fabricated and untrue.

Bullock and Johansson are friends and – far from avoiding each other – they greeted one another in the lobby of the Kodak Theater with a hug and kiss before the awards.

Shortly before the Oscars began, Bullock was talking to her pal Matthew McConaughey and his partner Camila Alves when Johansson made a point of coming up to Bullock and McConaughey, with whom she later presented the Oscar for Best Sound Mixing.

Oops.

Maybe PopEater should distance itself from this tall tale about the two actresses avoiding each other.
