Sandra Bullock Adopts 3-Year-Old Girl Named Laila
Sandra Bullock has adopted a 3-year-old girl named Laila.
The Oscar winner reveals the news in a cover story for this week’s People. Bullock is already mom to son Louis, 5, whom she adopted in 2010. In October, the actress strongly denied she had adopted a second child after rumors claimed she was secretly caring for an “infant” and a “new baby daughter.”
Obviously, Laila is much older than that. And she was in foster care prior to Bullock welcoming her into the family. “I knew she was scared, and all I wanted was for her to know Louis and I weren’t going anywhere,” she tells the magazine.
Of keeping the adoption process secret until now, Bullock admits, “You feel it’s very much like witness protection,” because she wanted to protect her new daughter’s privacy for as long as possible. The movie star confirms she first served as Laila’s foster parent before formally adopting her, which is in line with Bullock’s October comments, as she said, “If I had a second adopted child, everyone would be hearing about it. I would be loud and clear and say, ‘Yes, I have officially adopted a second child.'”
Bullock is definitely being loud and clear here. Tell us what you think in the comments below.
