Sam Woolf Tries to Make Top 30 on American Idol – WATCH VIDEO!
Sam Woolf was one of the popular “American Idol” contestants trying to make it into the Top 30 on Wednesday’s dramatic episode.
As part of Hollywood Week, Woolf and all the singers who had earned a golden ticket during their original auditions had to perform for the judges again in hopes of making it to the live shows.
Woolf, 17, had originally auditioned in Boston with “Lego House” by Ed Sheeran. In Hollywood, he survived the first two rounds, which were an a capella performance, later followed by a group performance.
Now Woolf had one last shot to prove why he deserved to make it into the Top 30 for the live shows. And he took a huge risk. Rather performing a known song, Woolf opted to show the judges an original composition called “I Tried.”
The judges may not have known it at the time, however, but despite Woolf’s young age, he is actually an accomplished songwriter. Last summer, the Michigan native, who now lives in Florida, participated in a program in the prestigious Berklee College of Music, where he was named one of the top songwriters.
